Current Situation: Please be mindful of firefighters, equipment and vehicles in the area. As evacuation levels are lowered, more traffic will be on the roads. We ask people in the community to drive carefully and allow our crews and other resources to work safely. The reported increase in acres on the fire is due to more accurate mapping as firefighters ground truth containment lines.
Firefighters accomplished a lot of work yesterday thanks to higher humidity and lighter winds keeping fire behavior to a minimum.

The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office has issued additional Evacuation Orders for Zones:
TEH-694-A, TEH-498-C, TEH-496-C & DLS-466-A.
- Message from the Tehama County Sheriffs office -
Due to some recent fire activity and the terrain in the area, the Sheriff's Office will be splitting three zones, 496-A, 498-A and 694-A. The new zones on the east side of the split will be placed in and evacuation order, the west side will remain in an evacuation warning.
Zone 466-A, Dale's Station will be changed from an evacuation warning to an evacuation order due to the change in fire activity and terrain.

The Pioneer Fire crossed the Fourmile drainage yesterday and progressed further north.
This fire movement has prompted Chelan County Emergency Management to issue a Level 3 (Go Now) notice for Stehekin starting July 28 at 8am. For more details about the notice and transport information see the post HERE
Firefighters continue to work on improving fireline and structure protection preparations, setting up sprinklers and other measures to protect the community of Stehekin.

They are now regulating the squirrels to second breakfast and having to fuss over sunflower seeds. Park and Borel fires stayed quieter last night and allowed me to help my new busy but slightly rotund torties acclimatize. Tilly is a snuggler but a definite trouble maker and rather skittish. Callie has decided (rather soon) that she has no problems being my cat, and has invited herself up onto my blanket and my pillow. Neither had seen a squirrel before, so let the games begin! The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office will be providing escorts into the evacuation zones for owners to evacuate or feed and water animals left behind.
Owners will be required to call 530-529-7940 to schedule a time slot to be escorted.
The phone line will be available starting at 7:30 AM on 7-28-24.
The escorts will allow 15-20 minutes for folks to provide for the basic needs of the animals or to load the animals up for removal.
This is not an escort to recover items or property or to evaluate property damages.

Cat update: Tilly cat has come out for pets and food and opened every bottom cabinet and drawer in my bathroom and kitchen. Callie cat came out from under the bed, jumped up on the dresser and let me pet her, but has been timid about coming out of the bedroom. If I stay on the couch she comes out to “find me” but then immediately runs back in the bedroom. We’re settling in nicely.

Today, the Borel fire expanded at a rapid pace due to hot and dry conditions, along with high wind gusts pushing through the Kern River Canyon. As the fire moves eastward, crews are working on structure protection near the Democrat Fire Station and building fire control lines. Aviation resources are actively engaging the fire as terrain limits the use of dozers. The Kern County Fire Department issued an evacuation order for zone KRN-403-A. An evacuation warning is active for Zones KRN-403-B, KRN-736, KRN-737, KRN-738.

Watching Park Fire in CA, Durkee Fire in Oregon, Alberta Complex Fires in Canada, Black Canyon fire in Washington and Alaska Wildland fires are firing back up. Will also be watching flash flooding in VA and NC until 2 or 3 pm, then out for sleep (I hope). And laundry. Have a Great and safe Thursday folks!

An overnight evacuation shelter has opened at the Warner Springs Jr./Sr. High School located at 30951 Highway 79, Warner Springs, CA 92086 by the Red Cross.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is upgrading the Evacuation Warnings to Evacuation Orders for Zones:
260, 261, 262, 265, 266, 268, 269 and 271 in the Forest Ranch area.
The evacuation zone can viewed on the Watch Duty map or via the Butte County evacuation map below
