Photos from a walk last weekend out to Abbott's Lagoon at Point Reyes, Marin County, California. A California poppy (_Eschscholzia californica_) of a variety with a deep orange center which I've been told is unique to the Point Reyes peninsula; and a blood-red thistle flower and the plant it was growing on, maybe _Cirsium occidentale_, the native cobweb thistle? #bloomscrolling
