@npub14xj…na59 Thanks. Mine get given out via local charities - and one funds parts I sometimes need like batteries etc. I get a few each month. I generally put Ubuntu on mine, though I’ve used MX Linux for the odd 32 bit machine that turns up….

How do you advertise for laptop donations? I’m using Freecycle wanted ads mainly.

As fossil fuel corporations are making record profits, energy bills are skyrocketing and people across the UK are being forced to choose between heating and eating. We need a proper Windfall tax. Sign the petition to call on Rishi Sunak to make polluters pay for rising energy bills.

@npub1g0t…tvm4 I suppose there are a number of other ways to describe it but mostly I suppose we think of Chicago School Economics. The pernicious problem, though, is that by shrinking from any popular description at all we give it a free hand.
By declining to give it any popular description at all, yet boldly identifying its scourge with only one of its confirmed proponents we doubtless help the public to misunderstand what the problem is.

@npub1g0t…tvm4 It might be more politically useful to refer to neoliberal economic wrecking, as restricting this criticism to Tories lets Labour off the hook. Despite a huge majority and three terms to act, Labour doubled down on the Thatcher initiatives. These neoliberal governments are a continuum. The way this is framed implies that simply getting rid of the Tories would change these things. Experience shows otherwise.

@npub1g0t…tvm4 Though, as I asked before, what is a good measure of success in a degrowth economy? - it can’t be GDP. What does proper degrowth look like? What are its first steps from here?
Also, it’s surely incumbent upon academics to help guide the way to, clearly essential, planned degrowth. Do you know of any who are doing that? If not then stumbling mistakes towards degrowth are perhaps still better than GDP pursuit 180 ° in the wrong direction.
