Even before you know the great dumbing happened with the AI and everything, the internet was nearly impossible to find reliable information on herbalism or anything that wasn't you know basically in Britannica.

This place is literally wild. I had all these snakes, they were chasing me around the yard trying to kill me, and then something ate all those. Then I had these armadillos show up and they tried to eat all the grubs, and then something ate those. Then I guess something ate what was eating all that stuff because it hasn't been by a while.
It's so f***** up out here. I don't even have termites, they just don't stand a chance.
But it's got doves :')

I lived through this before in the '90s. It sucked ass family.

I run this whole place off of solar... I mean yeah if it's ever on fire it probably won't do me much good, but I run a satellite up link off of it as well.
Someone would have to blow up space to shut this s*** off. 🛰️
And like you know I clearly know about ham radio and I respect it, I'd probably be one of only a handful in the state with a setup though. Doesn't really do a lot of good if I want to ring my mom or something.
I don't think most people around here know what a VOIP line is but I still have a free number and it would still work even if everything else in this entire state went down.

You know I'm sitting on the porch out in this. I don't know how long it'll take but you know I've probably been out here for 20 minutes and I'm not even mad about it yet. But I can see the leaves on the trees above me are starting to burn through a bit so that'll be interesting. Also the sunflowers ironically I think they are dead now and I just assume the basil got torched.
The runner beans made it somehow. I don't know. It doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me, but I did have to water all of it you know, but it looks like the runner beans and the amaranth survived.
The echinacea and the forest garden is absolutely unbothered.
The Yaupon bushes are completely unphased none of this stuff I planted in the shady areas here seems to be at all bothered, like happy as a clam over there it is.
There's some spots that get like only partial shade. You know instead of mostly shade. There are some spots here where a bit of sun flickers through. You know that's where everything I think will do the best from here on out that will do it anyway.
Amaranth full sun. I planted it in clay. I haven't watered the stuff very often. Just because I probably can't anymore at this point. Now I see what I take with me from here on.

so blackberries the only time I've seen them really around they were growing up a fence like just perfectly sitting there. I never saw them go anywhere but their little fence and that's what they did. Their whole lives must have been almost a decade. I was going down there to the river by that fence and they were just chilling there and never did anything else.
What are these things doing when you have them? 🤔
I was planning on planting some thornless varieties but I am becoming afraid.

yeah, this place is tilting. I literally can't stop or this whole forest is f*****.
It seems to be mostly contained but I see it spreading here and there.
I'll have to go after it like a truffle hunting pig this winter.
Those mystery cactuses too. They are everywhere and do nothing but stab me.

I would never throw any sort of Ivy or mont in a compost pile.
I've never tried but considering how things have been going I think you'd just end up with a huge pile of Ivy.
What's your describing obstructing light like that my forest does on its own to some extent.
Eventually the ivy will break through it, but it takes them an awfully long time.
Some of it's pine some of it's theater. Some of it's oak. Some of it's sweet gum. I don't know. There's more kinds of trees out there than I can figure out at this point. The forest floor though keeps most things at bay, at least for a while.
Everything's just constantly buried under a thick carpet of leaves and pine needles.
And millions of bugs :')

It wants to eat my pavilion and my cedar trees.
It will eat this entire forest if I don't keep it contained.
I find it in other places now. I don't know how it's getting there but it's already escaping.
I can't poison it. I can't pull it up. It just doesn't work.
If I cover it with plastic or cardboard it just grows out from under it and eats that too.
Pretty sure it likes being set on fire so that's out.
I'm going to try one last time to just cover it all with cardboard and tarps and bricks and anything I can find.
When I found it it was trying to eat the cinder blocks so I don't know how well that's going to work :/

I have a bunch of these Mimosa trees. They're getting out of control, but at the same time their flowers are a regent. They are a precious gift, but at the same time I fear they will be all that's left at some point.
There's also these weird cactus things that don't seem to need sunlight. I thought they made edible flowers or something but no they just spread everywhere and stab people lol.
I have until winter to decide what to do.
I read all over the place that hostas were invasive and you could never get rid of them. They're one of the few things here that I can actually eat but they're just sitting there where they've been sitting for the 3 or 4 years I've been working out here.
The only thing I'm sure about is the English Ivy.
It must be stopped.
I wish the fool that had this place before me had just planted some oregano.

Many of us fought shoulder to shoulder over the years. It was glorious.
Seems to mostly be farming these days but hey that's part of it as much as anything else.
Every person that learns how to sustain themselves, that learns anything at all really is a little seed of hope.

The radiation from the Sun seems to tamp things down during the day. Seeing things like that out of the corners of your eyes is how the sight begins.
