@npub1hpc…hjn3 A Swedish-speaking-Finn famous Winter & Continuation war veteran, photo-journalist, anarcho-syndicalist and librarian. He famously got into trouble with his hierarchy for (successfully) leading his platoon like an anarchist (i.e. democratically). He joined SAC and wrote for Arbetaren in the fifties.
He should be up your alley! I've learned about him through my marital connections to Österbotten and reading essays from local (Umeå) anarchists.

@npub1hpc…hjn3 Yep I finished it once. It was OK, definitely superior to *hum* Master of Orion 3* hum*.
But I found it not as fun to replay. Ship design and battle tactics has some nice ideas but frustrating executions.

Minden (and Rossbach before that) were eye openers for revolutionary sentiment, shall we say.

@npub1hpc…hjn3 @npub1e3h…2p0q Miniaturization favours phasers, hv fw. Plasma has a distance malus and disruptors come late. Death Ray is a random perk anyway. With shooting initiative the first battle round is decisive.
That's it. Early game if needed I mass frigate, destroyers with nukes or better. Once Graviton beam is researched I churn out my battle fleet.
I also usually play creative dem, with enough extra to get telepath after evo mutation. But I've played spying dict as well, it works.

@npub1hpc…hjn3 I must admit I don't understand what people see in the right's supposed economical competence. Their plan is as thought through as dismantling welfare state in order to open new markets for private capital and artificially and temporarily boost BNP at the expense of everything else.

@npub1hpc…hjn3 As I understand it Tamils had disproportionately more power than their demographics allowed, but Sinhalese had their share of British educated elites as well.
One of them (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S._W._R._D._Bandaranaike) is often portrayed as the main culprit in a move to gain power by fanning the flames of populist / racist sentiments within the majority Sinhalese population.
So the Sinhalese / Tamil dynamic massively shifted after independence, but part of the elite remained.

I wonder how often? In Sri Lanka's case it did not work out that way.
