In spite of the heat (27 degree C) I could run quite a good pace (5:20/km for 8.4km) and I don’t get any side effects. That was different a couple of months ago. The training really helps! #running

I got myself a #Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar to replace my Apple Watch because I tested one and it was so much better for running.
Now the sensor hub is crashing regularly which leads to different problems. Reading the forums it feels to be a problemm that is not that rare.

🎉 Yes! First time 5k in under 25 minutes and a PR in 10km with 51:34. So the 10k in under 50 minutes is close. And this was a progressive run. So it should be totally doable in a couple of weeks. Even though there will be a training break of 10 days. 🎉 #running

New record: I ran 183.31 km this month.
Also this month:
new PR in a half-marathon
new PR in 5km
And those were just training runs.
Next month it won’t be that much. Let’s see what the rest of the years brings.

While I wailed some days ago that I don’t see a sub-50 10km possible at the beginning off September todays fartleg combined with my half-marathon on the weekend inspired me. It is completely possible. New PR in 5km, close to sub 25 and a PR in HM on the weekend in training runs. #running

According to #Twaiv I will be able to run 10km in under 50 minutes in 1.5 months. Somehow I stilll can’t imagine it. I had a hard time to run 5x 1km-intervals in under 5 minutes/interval with 200m slow jogs in between. #running

For some reason LibreOffice Impress always printed my A3-slide on A4 today in #Fedora. And when I tried to print the image directly it was also always on A4.
On #macOS it worked directly. I don’t understand why it didn’t work in #KDE even thoughh everything was set to A3 😔

I registered for my probably last race this year. The Berliner Nikolauslauf. I did the half-marathon there last year. This time I registered for the “Big 5” (26.8 km). 5 laps around d the Schlachtensee. It is a small run around a lake with a lot of wood. Only a couple of hundred of runners. #running

Yes, I know tmux and screen.
screen sucks, tmux is better - have it on all my systems. Locally I prefer zellij.
But that doesn’t really answer my question - why use job control at all nowadays?

Even though I am using Unix-like operating systems for decades but one thing I am still struggling with is job control.
I.e. I start a long running process with output like rsync -av in my terminal. I know about ctrl-z and bg. But output is not detached. What I want is sending also the output to the background and getting it to the foreground from time to time to check on the status.
I rarely have long running tasks without output, so I always wonder what to do with job control. #linux #bsd

Gerade habe ich das neue (Hör)Buch von Marc-Uwe Kling durchgehört: „Views“. Ein Thriller mit aktuellem Bezug, nichts für Kinder und ganz und gar unlustig; auch wenn es vielleicht ein paar kurze Lacher gibt. Ein wenig beängstigend.
Teils etwas vorhersehbar. Aber trotzdem empfehlenswert - 4/5.

Don’t use “Outlook (new)” in #Windows 11. I just did a tcpdump and looked also at my #mail servers when setting up an account in there. The mail client only spoke with Microsoft-servers, never with my mail-servers and I saw on my mail-servers only connections from Microsoft-IPs.

I started training with a running group and everybody is way faster than me and can run longer. Second training and I ran far slower than everybody else and couldn’t do the whole the distance because this was already fast for me. I did my 3 fastest 400m-rounds, did a PR in 1km (it was 8x1km running, 200m slow - I had to quit after 5 times because I was at my limit).
I can’t yet decide if it is depressing or motivating. #running

Today I joined the first time a training of an adult running group. Actually they are all triathletes. But Wednesdays is their running training
They were so fast…it was so hard and I am so exhausted. But it was fun! Definitely joining the next time. #running

One of them told me that he members know who he doesn’t like watching soccer: it is so boring.

I am reading currently Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjektiv-Brenyah. It is a great bookk, hard to put away, it sucks you in more and more. But is so depressing and it gets more depressing the further you read.
I can imagine that it would make a great movie but it might loose its message.

On Sunday is my next race day. 25km.
My longest distance yet. I did once a half marathon and nearly a second one (20km) during training. Recently I had a cold, so I couldn’t train for 3 weeks. The last 2 weeks training was quite hard and I hope I can finish the run before the cut-off time… #running

I just tested Foundry with the DnD Beyond-importer. This is awesome!
Even bringing back changes of characters to Beyond seems to work.
It works great and it is so much better than Roll20 (and the VTT-stuff in Beyond). #ttrpg #dnd

I finished “The Bezzle” by Cory Doctorow.
The start was a bit slow and I didn’t know where it wanted to go, and then came the end a bit too fast and I don’t understand why one character didn’t act a bit differently.
But it was a good book and I couldn’t put it away until finished. 4/5 I’d say.

I finally read Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan. It was highly recommended and it is really good.
Noir and cyberpunky. Even if you have seen the Netflix-series I can recommend to read it. Can’t wait to read the other two books with Takeshi Kovacs. But first “The Bezzle” by Cory Doctorow.

TIL: der Lernraum Berlin hat noch keinen Cloudspeicher, OneDrive ist deaktiviert aus Datenschutzbedenken (aber die Lehrkräfte bekommen Surfaces mit Windows und die Schulen „lehren“ Microsoft), der SD-Kartenleser der Surfaces ist deaktiviert und das Thema Backup der mobilen Endgeräte ist ungeklärt (es gibt kein Netzlaufwerk und keine mitgelieferte externe Platte für die Lehrkräfte für das Backup). Beim letzteren wurde jetzt mal beim ITDZ Berlin nachgefragt. Ich bin gespannt auf die Antwort.

I registered for my next race. I think it helps me keep running. That way I have deadlines when I want to reach a certain time and have a target to train for. The next one is 25km in May (actually there is a 5.5km a couple of days before which is more a fun event) and then a 10.5km in September.
