We’ve had the Olympics on in the background and holy moly there are so many ads for AI stuff. My kid’s reaction to the Google Gemini one where the dad asks Gemini to help his kid write a letter to a track star? “But then your letter wouldn’t be meaningful, because it’s not coming from you, it’s Gemini’s words not yours!”
Damned straight, kiddo. (I mean, she’s heard some of my rants before, but this was 100% her reaction, I hadn’t said a thing about the ad.)

Current “feels like” temperature is 101F. Ugh!! I know that’s not unusual in various other locations (mostly locations that don’t average 100” of snow each winter like we do!), but it’s definitely unusual here in Western NY! (Our “average” temp for this date is 78F.)

WTF? Got a notification that my syllabus (which is the form of a Google Doc) is now restricted because there are materials that may violate Google's Terms of Service (specifically Spam policy). It's a *syllabus*. It has normal syllabus stuff. I've shared it with comment-permission only. There's nothing weird in it...but now no one can see the doc but me and the "Request a Review" link takes me to a 404 page.

I think I might’ve mentioned here that a Swiftie friend introduced me to all things Taylor Swift a few months ago, right? (Yes, I’m wildly behind the times; I almost always am, with pop culture!)
Anyhow, The Tortured Poets Department double-album is my very first new album release since I’ve paid any attention to Swift, and while it took a couple listens for it to sink its teeth in me, I now can’t stop listening to it!! (I especially love the second half!)

Yes, it sucks to be told "vote blue no matter who" when blue isn't making an especially strong positive case for itself. Sure, we can say that if Democrats don’t win, it’s the Democrats’ own fault for not being better, that they don't "deserve" our votes, but: not voting for them doesn’t (just) punish them for their failures - it punishes EVERYONE, but particularly the most vulnerable, by pushing us into a military dictatorship.
