Tried Proton Mail. The interface has some deal breakers for me that the security benefits don't overcome. I think it would be fine as a Gmail alternative but unfortunately I don't think it can replace the Exchange/Outlook combo for productivity. I'm not saying this to promote Microsoft but in the hopes the criticism will drive alternatives.

The root of the problem is that most outlets are now infotainment as opposed to actual news/journalism.
You need to find a way to make responsible journalism economically viable again. You also need to find a way to de-program an entire generation of journalists who've been taught to editorialize as opposed to report.

You own and control every stitch of data you put on it. Plus you can pick your own domain and username. If you use something like masto host it's super easy.

100% agree! It's the biggest thing that I miss. Even though it's on the roadmap the pace of implementation suggests its not a priority which I find extremely dissapointing.

Ok finally off chrome. Have also gone to duck duck go as my browser.
Decrapification step one completed.
It's only been one work day but delighted with Vivaldi and duck go is capable.
Unfortunately cannot decouple from Microsoft for mail, collab, etc. We need to support clients and unfortunately have to eat the same dogfood.
