- Every interview I'm involved in where we don't find the candidate suitable I like to do a mini review. For example, Did we ask the right questions? Did we provide the correct opportunities to demonstrate the skills we were after? Is the role or our expectations correct? Was there a culture or language barrier? Do we need to arrange an interview with a different interviewer?

- Focus on what people know. If you use SQL Server but they only have experience postgres, ask about postgres. Asking about things people don't know about doesn't lead to anything useful
- I don't generally care about specific software / environment knowledge. Most people will be able to pick up a different language/tool/system in a short amount of time. How people solve problems, learn, work as a team, improve systems, collaborate is more important

- The interview is as much for the candidate as you. You need them to judge for themselves if they will be a good fit for the company, team and position

It is done. My quest to get a scanner to working over iSCSI is complete.
I can now safely claim that Chris on SuperUser is wrong. There is nothing stopping you from having scanners running over a storage network.
