#Meta #Facebook and #Yandex are always looking for new ways to spy on you and track you. #LocalMess is the latest in a long line of abusive methods to gather your private data. Having their mobile app installed gives them super powers. Uninstall it. If you must use these services, do not use their app, keep it in the browser, or even better, use a wrapper app, like

#Xiaomi is shipping a built-in blocklist to block the installation of apps by Application ID, no matter how they are installed, e.g. also blocks when using Unknown Sources. That list includes a number of #VPN providers #Lantern #FreeBrowser

It is important to understand that the personal data you give to a company becomes their "property". Even if a company that currently runs a service keeps the data private, it can be put up for sale. The new owners are then free to operate differently, especially when there is no GDPR like in the US.

@nprofile…ynn5 @nprofile…jep7 We specifically chose Firefox Klar over Firefox Focus because in Klar, the analytics are opt-in, while in Focus they are opt-out. Firefox Klar should show up by tomorrow.

We have just added #Firefox Klar to our #FDroid repository of apps. Firefox Klar is a browser with a unique approach to privacy: it is designed around the idea that the user does not want to keep any personal info around. It makes it really easy to just wipe everything and start from zero. In the past, Firefox Klar was included in @nprofile…jep7 but it has become too hard to maintain the free fork that strips out the Google proprietary bits. Hopefully #Mozilla will make a #free build possible again.
