@nprofile…cfuw fwiw I simplified things mostly because how/why someone is ace isn't relevant to the point I was trying to make. Bigots try to justify their hate out of paranoia of what LGBTQ people might do. The thin end of the wedge has always been about "protecting" some group from "predators." Or about "fairness" in sports.
There is no such excuse for bigotry against ace folks. Hopefully at least some folks will actually wake up to how nuts the bigots are because of that.

I remember getting a survey from a really crap govt rep which had a choice of answer "I want harsher sentences" or "I think crooks should have more rights than [citizens]"

I would be less filled with irritation if Cypress didn't have that obnoxious bug where it fails to purge whatever garbage it's retaining in its dev environment when a test run is restarted.
That or if it handled OOM more gracefully but not hitting that OOM condition would be preferred.

@nprofile…8nar @nprofile…dqyq the problem becomes physics. Geostationary orbit which IIRC is where GPS lives is about 35000km away. That means any satellite internet using geostationary sats has a minimum lag of 233ms if my math is right
Not so bad for email or videos but problematic for things like zoom, gaming and such
EDIT it's in MEO not GEO so less lag but more than what starlink is offering

Heads - it breaks a fundamental assumption leading to a rewrite of "finished" work

IME the former = an hour to fix, an hour to notice I missed something then a few minutes to find the copypasta that wasn't fixed. Maybe an hour or two if I feel like refactoring it into a function/class/whatever.
The abstract mess is hour(s) to find the part to change. Changing it, then hours more figuring out why it broke in some weird illogical way instead of fixing the problem.

@npub1yk6…4zz4 it's surreal when something like that happens. A high school acquaintance ended up in prison for an unprovoked murder. It's really hard to reconcile the person you remember with the fucked up stuff they got in trouble for.
I'd love to say it gets better but it hasn't really for me. It just kinda fades into the background over the years.

The main signs of disuse/age I see is the neglected state of the very obsolete machines there. That and the general vintage of everything.

@npub1yk6…4zz4 The facade is in remarkably good condition; especially compared to the interior shots.
Most other abandoned places I've seen get their windows smashed out pretty quickly, before any other deterioration sets in.
Also, really nice article. Reminds me of the old Infiltration zine I stumbled on a long time ago.
