Ngl, whenever I hear stuff about crowd sizes these days - no matter whose event it is - my mind invariably calculates the number of new cases/hospitalizations/deaths to be expected. 20,000 people attended your rally/event/concert/whatever? Congrats, you are responsible for 200 new cases, 50 hospitalizations, and 10 deaths. The actual numbers may vary, but the denial of responsibility is a universal constant. #COVID #WearAMask

As problematic as Singh’s withdrawal is from the supply-confidence agreement with the Liberals, the far bigger problem I’ve had with politics for a very long time is the near-complete absence of any elected MPs with a solid grasp of science. Sadly, this is true regardless of party affiliation. I believe this has done more harm to Canada and Canadians than anything else you’ll hear about in the news. #canada #science #ndp

Jfc have I read that right? A number of US schools have closed less than a week after the start of the school year.. because of covid. The schools are closed to permit “deep cleaning” and when they reopen teachers will be required to “clean” students’ desks by wiping them down between classes. Not a word about masks or the fact that covid is airborne. 🤡 Thought for sure I was reading the Onion or some old news from 2020, but nope. This is the current reality in 2024. #covid #maskswork

@npub1xsy…cevg @npub1r0v…7u5y I was actually in California at the time of that storm, so I missed it. Ironically, my biggest dump of snow was not in Canada, but in Washington DC of all places. In 2003 we got something like 28 inches. Which completely shut the city down for 4 days.

@npub1k4q…3lsq for sure! At that point in time, I was still roughly 2 years away from buying my first bike (as an adult). It’s the bike I still have and use, nearly 20 years later! Bought it at United Cycle on the Calgary Trail, which from their webpage looks like they’re still in business.

@npub1k4q…3lsq getting closer to what I experienced there in Jan 2004. I would get up, turn on the weather channel, and tell my partner I’m not leaving for work until it reaches -45C. Had to walk to work, because our car was frozen solid (we bought it in the U.S., and it did not have a block heater). For 20 consecutive days, this was the sitch.

I wish I had lied and gotten my booster before the holidays. But New Brunswick requires 6mo from last #Covid infection, which may well be a practical impossibility for many who aren’t even trying hard to protect themselves. And my partner reminded me when I brought it up that it would be wrong to do that and we are not dishonest people. Not dishonest, perhaps, but apparently open to being infected by those who have no such problems with dishonesty.

@npub1v2s…mqq5 in the interest of accuracy, the definition of electrocution is death by electric shock. So saying ‘electrocutions’ means that there were multiple deaths by electric shock. Is that correct? If so, the statement that there was just one death would be inaccurate. Without knowing more details, it’s also possible that this death did not result from electric shock, in which case there were no electrocutions. Again, just wanting to have a correct picture in mind.

Btw, here’s a photo of the same test kit, taken approx 2 hours later. You can see that the line is much darker than it was at the 15-minute mark. The time limit has more to do with liability and related legal issues than it does the science of the test, which does not magically end after 15 minutes.
