My grandfather, as a physician fluent in German, was recruited by the OSS and sent in to hospitals in liberated Germany after the war to interview terror bombing victims to, as he put it , "see if they were properly terrorized."
They were not. It only made them mad. Not what his higher-ups wanted to hear. His report remains classified to this day.
Running an intelligence op only to ignore their findings is as stupid as hiring a lawyer then failing to take their advice.

Oh MAAAAAAN I visited some friends in UP on a big road trip in my 20's decades ago and it was AMAZING.
Hiked around Lake of the Clouds AND along the shores of Lake Superior where each little inlet the water was either Azure Blue or Malachite Green glittering in the sun.
And the tasty pasties! UP people are SO nice. They will cook for you, make you endless cups of sweet milky tea.
Almost sited our farm in UP.

Ah we planted 5 cold-hardy chestnut trees last year, and 10 cold-hardy hazelnut seedlings! Cleaned up around them & renewed their little cages just last weekend. Ima head up the hill and take some pics to add to this. Nut trees are such a wonderful thing to cultivate! Hoping to invest in 20 or 100 hazelnut clones of heavy producers and more seedlings for around the perimeter this year from https://znutty.com/

But my definition of 'unbearable' is more like above 30. It rarely gets there. We leave the windows open all night & close them when it's about to get hotter outside than in.

80,000 people died at Hiroshima.
And, according to the UNHCR, around 80,000 women are murdered every year, the majority of them by intimate partners.
An "Hiroshima every year" number of women are murdered. Yet it is barely a blip on the news cycle.
That's how little we matter.
That's how important women are to the "rest of the world".
Even though we're more than HALF "the world."
So it's also a measure of how anti-woman propaganda keeps us apart.

Ouch! We had all girls except 2 in AP Chem back in '76-77. Very unusual. He couldn't ignore ALL of us! Numbers make a difference. Teach tried to ridicule each of us individually, but we stood up for each other.
We used the Shaum's outlines when the textbook didn't make any sense.
I wish I wish you'd had the same or better experience! Of the women in that class, 3 became programmers, 1 became a doctor and 2 went into Environmental science. The 2 boys went into engineering.

Bookmarking this because we have some real creative entrepreneurial bike mechanics and bike builders up here in the Mohawk Valley NY -- and most of the nut shellers & threshers either run off a diesel tractor PTO or 3 phase electric. The idea of running that kind of machinery off a bike power train -- well it's something we could even sell to the Amish as well as us off-gridder weirdos lol.
