Why the US Tariffs are Here to Stay - A New Economic Era
Most analyst do not understand the reasons behind the tariffs Trump announced today, they just see short term stock market crisis, or tensions between nations, the so called Trade War; the truth is that behind these tariffs there is a giant geopolitical, and economic shift happening.
Globalism right now is benefiting China more than any other nation because they have the manufacturing capacity of the world, this has to be reversed, otherwise every other world power will be completely eclipsed and China will become not just a super power, but the world's hegemon like America was once after World War II.
The way the Trump Administration has found to either slow down, stop, or diminish the power of a rising China is the enact tariffs on all nations, with an emphasis on China.

That is why suddenly it becomes very important to control Greenland, to make sure Canada takes care of their borders, to make sure Mexico is a partner and not an economic and drug influenced enemy. The Panama canal follows the same logic, and soon we will see more of this pattern.
China and Russia seem to be the new era regional powers.
For Trump, Lutnick (Commerce Secretary), Scott Bessent (Treasury Sec.), Rubio (Foreign Sec.) and Hegseth (Defense Sec.) this is the new reality they must impose or America 🇺🇸 will face major demotion and no longer be a super power.
What should a small investor do in the meantime? Treasuries, gold, stablecoins, and if you know what you are doing select crypto assets or stocks like Bitcoin.

Consider Moving to Cash or Stablecoins or Gold Before Liberation Day - Wednesday April 2nd.
On April 2nd the Trump Administration will unleash comprehensive Tariffs that will affect most of the nations that trade with America.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said that nations that trade with the USA will be put into 5 categories, and that tariffs will be reciprocal to all of them. President Trump has said that they may even be less harsh than reciprocal.
Wednesday we will know exactly what will happen. What seems certain is that tariffs from 10 to 25% and higher will arrive this Wednesday. This should have an initial negative effect on global liquidity and the values of most assets including crypto currencies.
Until it is clear how this situation settles I do recommend you consider moving to cash, stablecoins, or gold.

A CYPHERPUNK RESPONSE: DARK OPENCODE
Given how easy is to use someone else’s code via an AI LLM, and how easy it is to copy the features of open source software for closed source applications a cypherpunk response is needed.
I propose Dark OpenCode as a way to share the fruit of volunteer coders without source code for AI LLMs to copy.
Dark OpenCode gives away the binaries for free, but the code is visible only for contributors, the real members of the community. The IP remains with the community, but the fruits of the work are shared freely with all.
Feedback welcome. I do intend to use this idea for future projects that would feed LLMs unfairly to the makers of the code.

Alby Hub - Minimum Hardware Requirements to Run it Yourself
Recently I had a conversation on Nostr with the good folks from Alby, I want to run Alby Hub in my own hardware and wondered about the minimum requirements.
They responded, and I am quoting what they said here because they are good news for anyone who knows how to setup a server.
Hardware Requirements
- Any current Intel or AMD processor
- 1 GB of RAM
- 1 GB of disk space
And yes a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 will do as long as you make sure it has the disk space.

Bitcoin Transaction Security - BIP 125 RBF WARNING
Recently BIP-125 was approved and it's the current default for the Bitcoin network, it allows you to pay extra fees to get your transaction approved by the miners, and to jump the mempool queue and be confirmed.
However, it also opens many possible risks, especially for those who receive funds in Bitcoin, because these payments may be stopped by using BIP-125.
What to do?
1) ALWAYS Wait for Confirmations. I would recommend a minimum of 3, and up to 10 depending on the amount. Bitcoin's OG @npub17u5…t4tp recommendation is included as an image for dollar amounts, and also a risk estimate I researched myself.
2) RBF Detection: Some wallets and services can flag RBF-enabled transactions. Some that do this are Electrum, and Bitpay.
3) BE AWARE. Realize you must take precautions when accepting payments via Bitcoin, wait for full confirmation.

Thanks, but the math is wrong.
Lightning Network transfers fail frequently, TPS in the case of Visa and Solana measures an end to end transaction not a path traversed in a transaction which fails.
Real transaction speed for the LN is as far as I know not documented and the reliability is lower than Visa. Which anyone who uses it regularly will tell you.
