I think that’s normal. A more progressive minority pushes the whole field forward. Only commies live in a world where everyone is equal and equally stupid.
The questions I would ask myself are: Is this bad for bitcoin? I don’t think it cares. Same way the internet doesn’t care about Google. Can the ETF/NGU people manipulate bitcoin price? Yes, either by a small percentage or for a short period of time. Long-term it’s impossible. Can they control it? No, it’s a game of three: miners, users, node runners. Is it bad that some people want only NGU? No, it’s probably the best way for a random normie to get orange pilled.

Sorry, I am a monero noob, just being curious. But this is what’s written on their homepage too…
My understanding was that, like in Liquid, Monero transactions are encrypted. Of course you know how much monero you have mined yourself or sent/received in total, but the blockchain consisting of fully encrypted transactions, while being fully anonymous, is not verifiable in terms of total supply.
What am I missing?

I used to run a monero node. I always thought the monero blockchain was encrypted, so every transaction is confidential and there‘s no way to verify the total number of monero UTXOs 🤔

You‘re right. I live in Germany and it’s an embarrassing example of our government‘s policy that has been pushed though for the last 10-15 years. I also don’t know how I would behave myself in a situation like that. But as a cop I would probably baton everyone down to the ground and only then see who’s the criminal. When on the bus I try not to look into people’s eyes as they might feel provoked and sexually assault me. These small university towns in Germany are full of crime and violence. How the academic system could be fixed to avoid that experienced scientists waste years of their time to find independent positions - I don’t know… Probably fiat politicians should stop printing money to fund wars all over the world.
What I also noticed recently is that there’s more and more private research labs doing the same high quality science, just without bureaucracy bullshit. But this creates another problem, namely, where’s funding coming from…

I would consider it a natural development rather then modern feudalism. Urbanization is not bad per se. What‘s bad is the broken balance b/w the progressive minority in cities generating the income for all and creating jobs and the conservative majority preserving the identity and culture.
However, with increasing automation and AI applications, even this natural society model will end sooner or later. The question is what will be the trigger. A strong AI? Thermonuclear synthesis? A global economic collapse? I guess all of that.

Yes, as a side effect of the excess urbanization in response to the initial expansive industrialization. In an ideal world, such people would always have the option to move to the countryside and seek for new opportunities („back to the roots“). In our broken world, these people get trapped in a socioeconomic limbo because there’s no more land or because the government penalizes such moves to maintain a certain level of poverty in cities which it can refer to during elections.

Well, it probably worked as long as there was a stimulus to do so, either imposed in a top-down fashion by the government-church „alloy“ or because the socioeconomic conditions were favorable (bottom-up). Both factors are not really present anymore. While the former is probably (hopefully) gone forever, the latter is still quite tricky. Согласен почти со всеми пунктами кроме проблем со вторым слоем. Не совсем понимаю какие именно сбои возникают? Я пользуюсь всем, от лайтнинга до ликвида. За более чем полтора года не встречал сбоев ни в Boltz, ни в Phoenix (был один массовый апгрейд и закрытие канала, но они оплатили комиссию), ни в Jade + Green Wallet, ни в SideSwap с их peg in/out. Про Relai и Strike говорить не буду, так как в Грузии они скорее всего недоступны. В целом, в моем условном «пузыре» стало жить только проще в плане ввода/вывода в фиат – даже с учетом нашей немецкой убербюрократии. Но видимо в других странах не так просто пока…

Okay, just rewatched the Durov interview once again more carefully. Learnt amazing things about Pavel:
- Born in 1984, during the first 4 years of his life already realized that the centralized soviet economy is dysfunctional

To all of the American plebs here: Yes, as someone who was born around the same time and in the same country as Pavel, I fully confirm that what he’s saying is 100% true. Russian kids are born geniuses with a math textbook in our left hand and a chemistry textbook in our right hand, and up to 10 languages in our head. Moreover, we are able to criticize the planned economy in our early age because it’s in our blood – as for me personally, I realize it’s wrong so early on that I started charging my friends in the kindergarten for playing with me in the sandbox and later for using my toys.
