So, my favorite pub no longer serves any snacks that are without animal cruelty.
They used to have "olives & feta" that could be ordered without the feta; apparently they now buy the olives with the animal cruelty pre-mixed in.

I’m sure the consequences on #privacy aren't widely understood.
In the 90s at digicash.com we tried to sell a privacy respecting internet payment system and prototyped an off-line variant and a physical wallet device that had pretty neat privacy features (providing upon challenged only the bare minimum of information).
We all know which account-based internet payment system won, back then.

As a #vegan I believe it would make sense to make food at #fosdem entirely plant-based. Maybe next year?
(Hoping the fries were vegan, in Belgium fries often aren't even vegetarian, and only vegans seem to know this)

@npub19am…qjn6 I don't think GUIs are a problem by itself, it's rather that GUIs are hardly ever created with user freedom (and user empowerment) in mind.
A user interface that isn't programmable is disposable-ware, and hopefully this is only a temporary problem (in the first couple of decades of the 21st, it was popular for programmers to treat their users as morons).

At the Linux Apps Conference 2023 #LAS2023 (sic., that's really GNU/Linux), Dor Askayo talks about making the Freedesktop SDK project bootstrappable, bringing the benefits of a clear dependency graph of fully auditable code and a build process independent from the previous binary version of Freedesktop SDK (which depended on its previous binary version, which...).
Lovely to see how quickly they took full advantage of us closing the gap between Stage0 and GNU Mes!
