I have interests in a number of areas: #climatechange as it seems the world many be a very unpleasant place for my kids and grandkids, the #environment for a similar reason, #physics as it makes our civilisation possible, #astrophotography because it’s cool, #photography as I like capturing the moment, #renewableenergy as it’s the only way out of the #climatecrisis, renewable powered vehicles as #evs and hydrogen is the way off #fossilfuels.

After reading a ABC News article in noticed that they still have the share to X at the end. It pushed to complain about it on their website.
“I am disgusted (yes really mean that word) that the ABC still lists the former Twitter X as a share option. Under its current owner, racism and extremism has become rife an that the Australian public broadcaster chooses to associate with it is inconceivable.
I would like the ABC to drop all links to X.”

@npub1uw8…88kr I am amazed that the economics stack up. The satellites deorbit in a few years and must be replaced. The sheer cost of doing that must make it the highest maintenance cost communications system existing. Totally ignoring the rabid climate change accelerant caused by these incessant launches the whole concept seems unsustainable.
For governments, the message is don’t let your terrestrial network decay as the tech bros could pull the pin at any time.

@npub1a8a…wyep apparently #starlink will burn up 6 satellites a day which means al least 1 or 2 launches a week to replace them (from a constellation of 12,000). Huge #ClimatePollution and how is it actually economic? All these reentries and launch vehicles are a potential for serious disaster.

@npub1g0t…tvm4 @npub1yep…rqsz I was doing a management course a couple of decades ago and the instructor said words to the effect “management is hard, if you aren’t good at it or don’t like it please get another role”. I thought at the time that pay and prestige get in the way given that managers appear to be more valued than other positions. Possibly because managers value their own caste more highly.
The upshot is that you get any type of person in management for the pay and prestige and their bosses protect them because they are just as bad.

If I was a billionaire I wouldn’t be telling Pratt anything sensitive from now on and I assume that Trump will be in jail soon.

It will be 20 years before the #lnp’s nuclear option can deliver. No one is going to wait that long for a solution so aside from being populist, this policy is a non starter as it will be overtaken by events. The deployment of cheap renewable energy makes most commercial arguments for reactors less likely. Will there be nuclear fission in Australia’s future, possibly but will it be anything but a bit player? Probably not.

@npub1y4k…8ty5 too true. The problem of #fossilfuel burning is so serious, what’s a little dramatic flair? Most climate science is behind the actual changes. That’s not bad it is where they have got to however the concern about loosing the public’s confidence is pretty laughable as the public is currently being burnt, flooded,battered by storms worried about crop failures etc and might like some advice.
