Some have rolled their eyes at the "paranoid" requirement from the #Debian community of in-person gpg key signing as a step to become a Debian developer, and it's often been a real barrier.
But I'm reminded of it at the #OSSummit keynote today as the #Linux Foundation's Jim Zemlin talks about the xz vulnerability and identity verification of developers.
It was never paranoia. It doesn't solve everything, and people can still be dishonest, but it was never excessive paranoia.

Spent 2 days mindlessly adjusting the wire on my mouse because I thought being tangled up somewhere was the reason it was being weird and jumpy, because that usually helps.
It finally dawned on me that it might just be dying.
Another mouse works fine.
But I liked my old mouse, it was just a basic Microsoft X802382 but it was perfect, I don't want to go mouse shopping 😭 🖱️

I hate cooking, I've tried many things over the years to do it more because I think I'm suppoed to do it, including:
Buying cookbooks
Playing a Nintendo DS cooking game
Joining a recipe manager open source project
Nothing worked. You know what worked?
Having kids.
We have some prepared foods delivered for them, but ultimately I needed to know how to make simple things for them.
I still hate it, but I'm getting better at it, and not being terrible at it helps me hate it a little less.

PSA: Headaches and migraines aren't the same thing. No, not even if they're bad headaches.
And since I sometimes get migraine auras, oftentimes the head pain isn't even the first sign of a migraine for me! The visual disturbance (they manifest as blind spots for me), losing simple words, and nausea usually are.
I'm grateful to people who try to help by sharing their headache solutions, because I know their heart is in the right place, but I'm battling a whole different dragon over here 😕

The boys and I went to an estate sale this morning, and... at least it's not a typewriter? 😅
I have no idea if it works, but it could end up an interesting restoration project. Or I might gently clean and preserve the tubes inside a plexiglass housing and slot something more modern above them. Opportunities abound! And it was only $30.

I worked very hard not to, but as predicted, I have lost one of my Bluetooth headphones.
Losing headphones is my hobby, that's why I only use $8 ones from Sony. But this post-headphone jack world had me trying to go all fancy 🙄 That'll teach me.

I admit to being heavily biased these days (I do work for the company that makes s390x and most of the ppc64le servers), but I don't think I'll ever get over the fun of seeing identical tests come back green across a bunch of different hardware architectures.
Really have to finish getting my Ultra 10 going one of these days so I can have a bit more fun.

Open source family, what are projects using for bounties these days?
Yes, I can use a search engine, but it's a bit of a jungle out there, and it's hard to know who to trust. Not just with the money itself, but with proper financial procedures across jurisdictions worldwide (or at least, where they can operate, which they should be aware of too!).

This IBM Selectric II was only $20 at a thrift store, what was I supposed to do, abandon it?!
Anyway, it powers on but is hella noisy and doesn't quite work.
I figure I'll spend some time debugging, and if I fail it's a lovely paperweight until I save up the cash to bring it to my pals at Berkeley Typewriter. I've never owned an electric typewriter myself (all of mine are manual, intentionally) so this will be be a unique adventure. #typewriter #IBMSelectric
