One thing I love about low spec, low res, pixel art games…
With our modern tools, one or two people can make what would have been a state of the art, boundary-pushing game on platforms from 35 years ago.
And there is so much opportunity there, largely unexplored, as we abandoned platforms for whatever was coming next.

Is there some cultural or subcultural significance behind capybaras that I’ve been missing out on?
They’re lovely animals for sure, and it seems like they’re having a moment. I’m left feeling a bit like I’ve missed something, or have we just finally caught onto their innate awesomeness collectively?

Positive reactions to #Zelda #EchoesOfWisdom massively outweigh negative ones.
Interesting how those down on the game often decry “combat with a sword” being missing, which was clearly anticipated given Aonuma’s comments.
Fighting enemies with a sword has been one of the less interesting parts of top down Zelda games, maybe since the original. Much more game design surrounds items, and they’re way more engaging.
BotW/TotK don't have “a sword” until the Master Sword, and even that has caveats.

Main #NintendoDirect takeaways:
Finally a Zelda game staring Zelda, hopefully the first of many
Need to finish Thousand Year Door so I can catch up on some Mario & Luigi before November
Prime 4 looked pretty high fidelity, that's making me think it will be a dual release. But what they showed didn't show any hook that sets it apart from what we've already seen in the Prime series

It looks like most of the review aggregators (like metacritic), don’t go back all that far. I was just looking for the overall critical reception to Donkey Kong ‘94 for #Gameboy.
Am I missing a data source for this? I think part of capturing #GamingHistory includes capturing cultural context in reviews, and I have to assume someone has put effort into this.

I just realized that the #NES pixel width (256), and the #Gameboy pixel height (144), are in a perfect 16x9 ratio.

Don’t carry a second hand opinion about a programming language as an excuse to shy away from something.
Give it your own look. Worst case, you agree. Best case, you discover something you love.
Regardless, you will improve your craft to have broader experience, your own first hand insights, and a new tool, even if it won’t become a go-to solution.
Frankly, learning a new language isn’t all that hard, and it gets easier every time.
