I definitely misremembered how much of a slog it was to initially get x11vnc running via #Xvfb and xenodm(1) in an #OpenBSD VM under vmm(4)/vmd(8), so the attempt to replicate under #AlpineLinux with x11vnc, xdm(1), and Xvfb has been nearly as slow while figuring out what packages need to be installed... especially "*-doc" for the manual pages I've come to expect to "just exist".
Frustrating: `x11vnc -auth guess` seems to work so well under OpenBSD, but I have to pass the xdm authfile here.

I want to get in the habit of writing manual pages for my various utilities, so I've added one to my recordctl(1) convenience utility for enabling/disabling/toggling audio/video recording in the #OpenBSD kernel:

You probably don't need this, but it has been saving me many a keystroke as I jump in and out of meetings and podcast recordings on my workstation.

There's probably an existing/better tool out there for this, but I hadn't found one. I was tired of typing `doas sysctl kern.{audi,vide}o.record=1` to enable audio & video recording on my #OpenBSD workstation before joining web conferences & podcast records. So, I now present `recordctl`:

A simple `doas recordctl` will toggle the both audio & video recording in the kernel or you can explicitly set the state of one, e.g. `doas recordctl -a 1`.

#SteveJobs said computers are "bicycles for the mind." Bicycles use geometry & physics to help one go further under the same amount of effort they themselves put in.
I feel #GenerativeAI are "escalators for the mind". Escalators are expensive, complex, inefficient machines that churn constantly whether used or not. A convenience. They _are_ a helpful assistive device for those that need it — and many do! — and you _can_ to go further, faster, if putting in effort, but _most_ use for laziness.

I agree it's a bit of an "all of the above" result from staying level-headed and strategizing with what you had available. They were looking for an emotional rise from you as an excuse to escalate, but you sidestepped and engaged their intellects while treating them as equals. That all goes a long way!
Of course, the older I get, the more I realize that when I was younger, I couldn't read what I wanted or needed.
