New spam bot wave with multiple accounts - search for hashtag x4 to find them all. Some of them also include auth links to mastodon instances, looks like a phishing attempt or something.

We did not do the Turkey ➡️ Türkiye change for my language, because the country name is nothing like the bird name, so there is no confusion.
Some countries absolutely hate having their name translated though, e.g. Côte d’Ivoire.
We did follow the Swaziland ➡️ eSwatini change for my locale though (gd).

I just wrote a script to autoreport known spam accounts that will sign up on multiple instances with the same username. You can also use this script to autosuspend them.

@npub1tf4…nzuj In Scotland, every household regularly gets a letter from the authorities asking to update your voter information.
In Germany, it is mandatory to register your address with the city, which goes on your ID card. This automatically acts as voter registration too.
The system in the US is just broken and having to campaign for people to get registered such a huge waste of people's time and resources that could be used on other community work.
