I think it'd be a really interesting conversation between the two of you. I like a lot what Jeff has to say but most of what I have seen is just people nodding along in agreement or just being orange pilled at a high level. You do a great job of getting into the weeds on these issues so it would be great too see you highlight them with some of the big faces in Bitcoin and see if they are even aware they exist.

Yeah I use the alby extension for web apps, but I don't think anything like that exists for web apps on android.

I've been using Primal as I like to go between web and android. I've always liked PWAs but not sure how that works while handling #nostr keys securely.

Hey Gary, I appreciate your response and think you have a good point there. My issue with seperating the Bible from church history is that it leaves everything up to interpretation and gets muddled up with mistranslation. My priest recommended an Orthodox study Bible for English speakers which is essentially a king James translation but with notes adding context to the passages, highly recommend.
Ultimately I think it's great more people are turning to, or back to, Christianity. #orthodoxy #orthodoxstr

Yeah I totally understand that, I'm lucky to have family ties in the community and the priests always introduceme to other converts. Even if you manage to attend just to check it out I'd highly recommend.
And yes you are correct about the Pope, most Catholics really don't like the current Pope and say the church has always had bad popes, but the individual popes are not the infallible part, it's the the papacy and what it teaches. My point goes more to the church history and whether the infallibility of the papacy has any justification and I don't believe it does.

There are plenty of men that want these features too. Yes we are all adults and can deal with people being rude online or seeing adult content that we might not be interested in. That doesn't mean we want to see child porn and other horrific content. We can understand the need to for an open protocol while still wanting tools to curate our experiences online, they aren't mutually exclusive. We want to build a better internet that can be safe for kids, enjoyable for women and for men who aren't interested in seeing porn without having to hand over authority to big tech. The irony of saying men always lead and dismissing the needs of those you are supposed to be leading 🤦🏻‍♂️

I married into a Greek Orthodox family as a non believer and developed more of an interest in Christianity over the last few years. I wanted to do my research on denominations so started with Anglicanism being an Englishman and all, but all you have to do is look at the CoE to see how well that is going. Protestantism didn't make any sense as they seem to think you only need the Bible, not the church, but it was the church that constructed the Bible, so for me it came down to Catholicism and Orthodoxy. Long story short is whether you agree with the infallibility of the papacy and I don't think the evidence in favour holds up. Orthodoxy follows the ways of the church pre schism, even most Catholics agree on that but think the papacy has authority to change things. Thats why I leant into Orthodoxy and haven't regretted it one bit. As for the service in Greek, my church does Saturday service in English as there are other English converts and other non Greek attendees and the other services in Greek are still lovely, the same way a traditional Latin mass would be for Catholics. I would definitely encourage you to check out your local Orthodox Church 🙏🏻☦️

Yes but it is massively accelerated by broken money. Housing has become the defacto store of value, especially in England, especially in the South East and especially in London. We are a tiny island and currently have over a million people immigrating here every year to prop up the ponzi economy. Most of us that grew up in London have to move so far to get anywhere near the property ladder it totally destroys communities and family bonds.

I wish I had them sooner. I met my wife at 21 and we started saving while both living at home to buy a flat together, which took 6 years because of how expensive London is. Got married then wanted to move to a house but lockdown happen so delayed us further and didn't have our son until I was 33. The Fiat system makes people wait longer because they need a place to raise a family. #bitcoin fixes this.

I think this is why it's so hard to explain why #bitcoin is important to people in the UK and Europe. They are struggling with cost of living but it has been eroded over decades so it doesn't feel as bad as it does to those in countries with hyper inflation. You tell them it's going to happen here and they snobbishly write it off as something that only happens in poor south American countries.
Unfortunately I think things are going to have to get a lot worse before they get better. 🤷‍♂️

In the UK most workplaces are required to pay into a pension plan for employees so everyone has work place pensions that you cant touch until retirement. More savvy people transfer those funds into SIPPs so they can at least control what that money is invested in like MSTR etc.

Update on this discussion. The pi coin arguments boiled down to it's more green because you can mine on a phone and it's secure because every miner has to be KYC'd.... Also Bitcoin is old tech and made by the feds....
Anyway, explained best as I could the time chain, proof of work, permisionless open networks and stranded energy but will take some more work to turn them into bitcoiners.
Massive win is they had never heard of lightning so said I would send free sats to anyone in the group who gets a lightning wallet setup. Hoping to show the power of lightning ⚡

Similar issues in the UK our government imports coal from Australia on a huge oil tanker that then docs at a port in Wales not far from the mines filled with cleaner, higher quality coal in order to save the environment 🤡

I've had an idea for a simple web app that you can add all of your recipes to and use it to remind you of meals you haven't cooked for a while when you are struggling for dinner inspiration. You could share and use other people's recipes and maybe also use AI to generate a weekly meal plan for your family and a shopping list to go with it.
Is this something that could be built on #nostr? Maybe a recipe event type?
I'm a software engineer by trade but don't know the first thing about nostr development so any help would be great!
