I voted Nader that year (my first election), and even though my state went for Gore I’ve regretted that vote ever since and have felt like I’ve been made to pay penance for it by having to watch younger people make the same boneheaded vote thinking the parties are both the same.

honestly, anyone who saw reports of the insane lines on Election Day from 2020 would probably want to get ahead of that as much as possible, in anticipation of high turnout. That’s my big read on what’s happening.

Washington State has been great, too. Lots of drop boxes (built like tanks, not the wimpy ones like the Wausau Mayor wheeled away earlier), and a good ballot tracker website so you can see that they received your ballot and verified all the necessary stuff (the tracker works for both mail and ballot box).

the US has a puritanical streak going to the 17th century, where bad language is a far worse thing than violence. It’s bonkers. In several states you can be cited for publicly cursing in the presence of a child, but open-carry of firearms is just accepted.

it amazes me that they just lean the ladder up against the wires. I know those aren’t power wires, just I’d have worried it might cause trouble pulling some loose or something.
