The general consensus for most is that eating cats and dogs is a bad thing, but these same people will willingly send tens of billions of cows, pigs, chickens, fish, and other animals to slaughter and consume their flesh without batting an eye.
Your "pets" are not the only animals that deserve your compassion.

Denmark received a formal extradition request from Japan for Captain Paul Watson, a week after he was arrested by Danish Police upon his arrival in Greenland on July 21.
Denmark’s Ministry of Justice has full control over whether or not to comply with the extradition request. Their final decision is expected on August 15.

9 years ago today, I adopted O'Malley from the Austin Animal Center. He was there for over a year, with no one showing interest in him. This was mainly because he was a pit mix, heartworm positive, and loved to jump and body-slam people (playfully).
Aside from becoming vegan, rescuing him was the best decision I've made in life.

Can someone be vegan for any other reason than animal rights? Let's see...
Person 1) Claims to be vegan for the environment, but will still purchase and use cosmetics tested on animals, as animal testing has no direct influence on the environment.
Person 2) Claims to be vegan for health, but will still purchase and wear wool, silk, and leather products, as what one chooses to wear doesn't affect their health (under most circumstances).
Person 3) Claims to be vegan (because it's trendy), but occasionally consumes animal products during holidays and family gatherings.
So, are any of the above vegan? Absolutely 💯 not. Why? Because they still willingly support and contribute to animal exploitation when they have the option not to.
If people like the above can call themselves vegan, they then have the ability to spread false information about veganism. It becomes whatever people can market it as.
This is where we are now. People think veganism is a diet. They think fish aren't animals. They think honey is for us. They think horses should be ridden. They think veganism is about themselves, or something that has nothing to do with ending animal exploitation.
If the core of veganism is lost (animals rights), then what else is there?

It's beyond insane to me that people can abuse, kill, and butcher animals without feeling any ounce of guilt. Can they really not see the pain and suffering they are causing? Can they not see another living being in front of them? Can they not see the spark of life in their eyes?
