@npub178h…hyhr I don’t remember ever getting close enough to a domestic TV to see scanlines in the 70s/80s/90s. Computer monitor, an IBM PC in the early 80s, yes but not TVs because you sat further away. What I do remember is US content being soft after it had been through conversion.

@npub1qu2…uj0d Another thing to bear in mind is that (unlike Mastodon) there is no requirement to have more than one admin. Some reasonably popular instances have a single admin and some of those seem to have gone missing.
What will happen is anyone’s guess, presumably when the hosting isn’t paid they’ll just stop without warning. If they don’t get into legal trouble for not keeping their house in gear.

@npub1rk3…43sg Still having a problem with media playback. If I open the app with a video on screen it will start playing (sound only) and not stop unless I force close #IceCubesApp Even possible to tap on the video and have two copies playing one with just sound. Battery gets hot 😢

@npub1rk3…43sg That’s an excellent idea. Can I be cheeky and ask how bug fixing is going? Particularly the one where media continues to play even when you scroll away from a post and can have more than one audio/video playing on top of each other. I don’t want to be negative as IceCubes is my favourite but this would really improve things for me. 😊

@npub12ty…vnqc @npub1m7k…tkt9 I don’t mean this in a rude way but you’ve said a ‘couple of weeks’ and ‘ by the end of the month’ (May) before. From a user’s point of view (who really wants Pixelfed to succeed) it’s a little frustrating. How can I get my friends to use it when it’s not in the App Store ? They aren’t going to use a web site, they want to use their phones.
Anyway, moaning over - good luck with your projects.

It seems to add centralisation
Block lists have already proven highly problematic due to individual blocking policies and a high number of errors
There seems to be a growing lack of focus at Pixelfed with projects being started but never quite finished (eg the app, which should be the main way to access Pixelfed, is languishing in Beta lacking many facilities and basics)
The name ModDB already exists and is likely to cause confusion

@npub1lj7…zczx Agreed, but it also depends who the winners send. The companies/organisations awarded were from various countries and I’m slightly uncomfortable at the idea that Apple should ask them to send specific groups of people to demonstrate.

#[0] it might have not been put very well and obviously by someone who is frustrated , but I think it’s a good point. There’s lots I’d like to see (following hashtags, easier discovery of content, better sign up flow etc) that I think would be better at attracting users than stories (which only really work when you already follow lots of people). But I recognise you need to do what seems right for you.
