I appreciate the argument (Must Use The New Hotness!) … but I work on a telephony microservice that has soft real time requirements, where memory safety and determinism are critical, written in Rust. Garbage collected languages are less useful in this space. We could have used C++ or maybe Go. I feel both would have been harder work (have only dabbled in Go). Trying to shoehorn Rust into the Linux kernel - will be a gargantuan undertaking, easier to start afresh.

My name is unpronounceable in Japanese (it’s tricky in English!) - the rough conversion comes out as “mashuu ganburii”. Unfortunately that could be misunderstood as “evil influence, face, style”… accurate, perhaps. If I ever visit, I’ll need a pseudonym.

that is an incredibly useful site, thanks! Apart from a superb map, it gives me an idea… I can’t do much SOTA since there are very few summits I can get to.. but there are plenty of points of interest here. Megalithic Sites On The Air?

Hi all, do any of you have any experience repairing the spines/covers of hardback books? The front cover has been torn away from the block of pages, with the paper that attaches to the spine torn away. Not sure of what type of glue, or paper/cloth to repair it with. Or techniques! Hope you can help, thanks!
