@Ema エマ I did think about Joplin, I use it already for a lot of note taking, but I don't want to mix this journal with anything else. I would want it to be it's own thing and switching back and forth between accounts in Joplin isn't fast on mobile. Thanks for the suggestion.

A couple ideas I've had is spinning up an encrypted chat server or using encrypted email that I could send messages to myself.

I need to find a syncing encrypted journal software for Android and Linux that can be trusted. Needs to have the ability to work offline for those times I may not have good cell signal. I pay for enough stuff as it is, so looking for something free. I'll donate later if I find it's working well. Does anyone have any suggestions? It would be great if I could use my YunoHost server or Nextcloud.

@Delta Chat I do notice that when signed up on the default Deltachat email server, I can't manually add a contact with using their email address. I can only use their QR code or invite link. Is that to prevent SPAM accounts?

It was actually fairly easy to do. Download the firmware and OS into the same folder. Open a terminal by right-clicking while in that folder. Copy/paste commands from the CalyxOS website and follow the instructions. I installed it on a Google Pixel 6a. Took me about 20 minutes.

Someone really needs to come up with an email app/program that can snooze or postpone emails and that snooze syncs between my phone and my laptop.
If I snooze an email to view later, and I go to my laptop, it is also snoozed until that designated time.
Please tell me that already exists for Android and Linux (PopOS).

Are going to go loosen a few bolts on the bleachers so you have to use chairs again? 😉

I do wonder a bit too, if it's worth it. At the moment, I won't be missing much as I've already pulled away from those services for the most part.
Once my kids start living outside the house and continue living life, I may have to contemplate it a bit harder. Which is a reason I have already started hosting our photos on Nextcloud and have an avenue for them to easily share life. I'm laying that framework now and hoping it pays off later.

@Randal You definitely have to be careful what apps you use on your smartphone. Stay away from the OS provided apps and keyboard.
I am still on this journey and my next step is installing a degoogle version of Android on a Pixel 6a. I haven't decided on Grapheneos, LineageOS, or CalyxOS

They say pictures are work a 1,000 words. That's what Google Photos, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok does. They read your photos and share the data with the highest bidders.

Woke up with a headache. I'm hoping I can keep it from progressing with some advil and caffeine. But it feels like one of those headaches that can easily turn into a migraine.
