Funny how certain things that might be unpleasant and/or annoying can be ok and even endearing when it’s coming from someone you love.
I’m thinking of Ava’s kitty breath.
I hate the smell of her food and yet when she yawns near me I’m all like 💕I love you so much💕

This kind of “alt text” infuriates me and I’ve seen it a few times. Clearly it’s people who know that images with alt text get more boosts but can’t be bothered to actually write a description.
I know that not every Fediverse app shows a preview of the alt text so not everyone can check it before boosting. Some people assume good will and don’t look even when they do have that option.
Posting fake alt text just feels really dishonest to me. Just leave it blank if you don’t want to make the effort and people can decide if they still want to boost. Some people might even help out by providing the alt text in a reply. We don’t need to play these games.

It’s so weird that people still try to place so much judgement on social media when the internet is used for EVERYTHING else without being questioned this way.
Is it escaping real banking if I do online banking?
Is it escaping real jobs if I can only apply online?
Did that appointment with a therapist or doctor even happen if it was online? Would these judgy-ass people say that’s fake too?
What’s the difference with the phone? Is a phone call more real than reading messages online? Is the criteria that someone is living within a certain mile/km radius?
Are long-distance calls and texts also fake because you can’t see them in person?
Are news articles online less real even though they are published by the same newspaper that prints hard copies?
According to this logic my emails with my aunt are less real because I almost never see her in person since she lives on a different continent.
I know more about my online friends’ lives than many of my family. Most of my in-person chats are with my cat. I don’t need to escape that.
I involve my online friends with my in-person life more than I do my family because being a neurodivergent gay doesn’t jive well with the people who happen to be in my physical proximity.

Spent an evening with family and afterwards had to watch something gay to cleanse the palate.
This is a fab documentary “Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution” (2024) that gives a good historical overview of US queer history in the 1960s to 1990s and the role Queer comedians (in particular Queer stand-up comedians) had and still have in highlighting issues and uplifting queer identities.
I love Queer people 🥹
