Deep philosophical questions - do people sharing stuff they want to sell get any traction here? Books, or newsletter subscriptions, or workshops?
I get mixed messages as a novelist ie a small creator.

There's an authority in writing which makes people disposed to trust the author on the world. Even among some, not all, people who are not uncustomed to reading SFF. The same authority in the historical writer Mary Renault, who I rate massively.

there is a view that has been held for a long time that change in language is decay. Even Johnson, who was firmly of the view we must record what people say, not what they should hate, hated such innovations as 'mob'
I am repeatedly told i am being 'political' when I draw attention to the fact that something is not universally held as correct. It's a way of avoiding discussion.

people had to push to get he or she. I'm old enough to remember saying he was correct when it might not be a he.
Singular they when the general is unknown is, and always has been, uncontroversial. It's only single they when the person's gender is apparently known which is problematic for some . For me, I'd deffo go with it.
