This is why in EU funded (#HorizoneEurope) projects, the commission demands that a copy of every publications is *ALSO* archived in a repository like #Zenodo - and they have full guidelines as to preserving open access to science via their #OpenAire service.
I used to think it was a bit of a nuisance having to comply with all that #OpenScience requirement - surely it was obvious?

This is also why, as a #vegan/ #vegetarian based household going food shopping in #Denmark is an *enraging* experience.
Meat + dairy, especially the highly processed varieties are extremely cheap, and pre-packaged #plantbased equivalents are not.
We pay 25% tax on all products in DK, even food, the local co-op challenged politicians to drop 20% across all fruit and vegetables. The health gains alone would be phenomenal. Never mind the planetary gains.

Is there a geologist/palaeontologist on the line? Kid asked very good question this morning: why is this fossil ammonite in a round concretion? As in how was it preserved? (I explained that in some locations you find roundish stones that when broken in half reveal a fossil ammonite or other fossil inside). But why do they form in these roundish shapes? What is the preservation method.

@npub1cjk…d93r well as a rule of thumb you should always trust the national meteorological service of the country you're in. They have spent the most time optimising models + forecasts for the local conditions. The BBC contracted out their weather services to an NZ based company who will of course have access to Met Office services and products, but it will be the Met Office that e.g. flood forecasters etc will use too. Basically for that very reason.

Denmark has had a crazy weather year - and yet somehow we forget it amongst all the other craziness - which is of course why we invented climatologists:
We didn't just break the wettest year in a 150 year record - we *smashed* it. And yet May + June were record dry.
There were record cloud bursts, 2 big Atlantic storms and associated storm surges.
And a record warm September that was warmer than August...

Lots of anguish in various countries media about #PISA scores which seem to have slumped after the pandemic (though the economist rightly notes they were on a long slow decline before too).
What I really want to read though is a thorough statistical analysis - what do the numbers actually mean? What's the uncertainty range? What is the spread within the numbers? Is #PISA22 even measuring what we think it is + just how comparable across countries are the test conditions?

We're 8 minutes late leaving, which is a little ominous for the first transfer, I can't really explain how/why I booked a ticket with a 9 minute transfer at Hamburg this time. I must have been distracted or hopelessly optimistic, I would normally never leave less than 45mins at Hamburg Hauptbahnhof. So this is @npub1wv9…ac2k 's opportunity to really impress me...

Received a (digital) letter from local authority informing me the parking fees will be increasing.
I don't have a car, so 🤷‍♀️ but I'm slightly outraged to discover that a residents permit only costs 250 DKK/year - up to 750 DKK for the most polluting.
An #EV is only 50DKK. *per year*
Just me that thinks that is *unreasonably* low (given we live in the centre of a highly walkable/cyclable city)?

I'm no longer sure who it was on here, but some one recommended organic maps app as a privacy friendly alternative to Google maps, built on #openstreetmaps I've been trying it out the last 3 days and it is really brilliant. So 🙏 to whoever it was.

@npub1hpc…hjn3 @npub1n5k…rquc suspect that is because it goes only to 2300, there's a lot of uncertainty but in 4C world out to a thousand years you could definitely expect most of Greenland gone (~6m), West Antarctica gone (~1.5m), some of the big marine basins in east Antarctica (~2-3m) and all the small glaciers (= 0.5m), plus lots of thermal expansion. So somewhere between 6 (low) + 12m (high) would be my guess, based partly on palaeoclimate - but we don't really know because there's no exact match
