Question: I have heard an anecdote of a Microsoft 365 user which thinks they are not allowed to process special category GDPR personal data on this cloud platform. This includes stuff like people's racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, data concerning health or data concerning a natural person’s sex life or sexual orientation. Has anyone else heard of this restriction?

#graphoftheday The Dutch lower house of parliament has GLORIOUS open data, which really is a first class citizen - their own document software runs on top of the same data. And this allows us to make graphs like this, number of words each member of parliament would have to read per day if they divided the work fairly & wanted every document to be read just once:

@npub1nwq…39nr We might one day get ~40% efficiency for small panels, but you'd still have to be sitting in the full sun to benefit. Which in itself also brings cooling challenges for the laptop as well. It is all rather disappointing.

The Council of the EU has adopted the #CRA Cyber Resilience Act yesterday. This will have huge consequences for everyone who ships hardware and software as a product. Almost no actual open source developers face direct regulation (for writing software), but the users of our open source software very much do. The CRA notably suggests that commercial users pony up for improved open source security attestation. It is a big act, but it offers real possibilities for making better software! 1/2

The first important meeting of this cycle to pass the mandatory CSAM filter is tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9 AM Brussels time. The Dutch government has announced that after consultation with its civilian Intelligence & Security agency, they think the cyber resilience risks of the EU CSAM proposal are too high. The Dutch security and intelligence service AIVD has advised the Dutch government that the EU "Chatcontrol" #CSAM proposal is too big a risk for our cyber resilience. Other countries are still on the fence, and they might be swayed by the Dutch intel service statement: "Introducing a scanning application on every mobile phone, with its associated infrastructure and management solutions, leads to an extensive and very complex system" 1/2

It appears the Dutch government has decided to greenlight the EU plan to make 'big tech' force-install software on all European phones that will automatically report any questionable photos in your private chat messages to the police. This is not actually about protecting the children. This is about removing the very possibility of private communications. Dutch government is attempting to declare an "asylum crisis", which would allow it to bypass parliament & exercise emergency powers directly. Meanwhile government lawyers have declared that there is no crisis that justifies such action. 90 cowards in Dutch parliament (a majority) voted yesterday that they are fine with being bypassed.
