honestly the main thing is getting people to work on it. We know there are definitely usability gaps compared to fish and I'd love to seem them fixed.

I call that out the irony in the post. 😅
To your second point - fish *isn't* modern. That's why fish's creator started https://github.com/liljencrantz/crush which is another structured shell. I think that says a lot.

Serde is much too widely-used for a rogue maintainer to be experimenting with it in point releases.
I'm wondering if its maintenance should be moved to #rust / #rustlang official ownership, like regex did.
