Every week I log into my server to update my website for Lightning Thrashes. I notice system updates are needed.
So I update, then I notice a reboot is required.
So I reboot. After many years of rebooting my Linux servers I have yet to have anything go wrong.
Even though, I still get a little bit nervous.
I wish I could say the same about my Windows machines.
There have been many times that Windows updates have gone awry.

Could this be a thing?
It's a QR code of a Value block.
It has standard valueRecipient tags
It also has modified remoteItem with a percentage.
I was thinking this could be useful for videos played on platforms where v4v btc is not supported.
Of course scanning apps would need to know what to do with the info.

Trying to integrate RSS into Java is quite the learning experience.
I think I have a pretty solid understanding of what all the tags are now.
I'm getting so close to having my very own replacement for Sovereign Feeds.
I can already process VTSs and Chapters
I'm not sure why I choose Java. I think it's because I must be a masochist 🙁

I'm sure it is a mistake due to lack of knowledge of the pc20 system.
Could be resolved by hangin' more with the guys building the tech they rely upon.
I'm not upset about this. I make mistakes like this (and worse) all the time. I just hope it gets resolved quickly.

I put links to all the songs in my show notes. I link to the index because it seems like the most stable place.
Upon reflection I think maybe it's a bad idea.
Ideally I'd link to the song's GUID that way my link always goes to the right place.
Is there a simple GUID to URL resolver service in existence yet?
I'm thinking something like podcastguid://GUID-HERE
Or a redirect service https://podcast-guid-redirect.com/GUID-HERE
Or generate links on the fly through javascript, php, etc.

Got it. I was hoping for some sort of indicator on the split kit.
When building splits I'd rather choose the self hosted one over any others.
Also I watched your whole video. Thanks for putting that up. I think these vids are very helpful for people learning how to make a music show.

Also sometimes the art gets screwy on TSK

An idea.
I was looking at @npub12x8…mjy3 splits screen.
I think there should be a warning that with a 100 sat boost 4 recipients will not receive anything.
Then display the minimum amount that would give at least 1 sat to each recipients.
Even better some type of dynamic graph that fills in green as the listener increases the amount (slider maybe?)
It could look something like this.
Obviously I just hacked this image together. It should look better in the real world.

Boostagrams should not be in chapters.
This is a bad user experience.
I lost my place in the show and these boost chapters are cluttering up the screen, making it more difficult to find my place.
Also @npub1nl7…7x3u PLEASE make the timeline slider only active on long press. This happens nearly every time I grab my phone out of my pocket.

I'd rather build a completely separate system and avoid all the headaches.
When v4v takes off traditional misic will take notice and then find a way to implement it themselves.
Let ASCAP, BMI, SESEC, etc sort out splits for their artists. We should stay away until they do.

I realize that I should be careful.
The multi billion dollar music industry is going to come down with "furious vengence" at some point.
I minimize my risk by only playing artists that I'm reasonably confident that there will be no backlash. Faces Pale, Motive to Kill, Crash Landing, The Hate Chamber, are my friends bands recorded and produced by themselves.
And I try to onboard unsigned, self produced musicians regularly

Maybe we should just all stand still and do nothing while the music industry continues to take advantage of artists.
We're trying to build a completely different system with different payment / incentive structures.
The existing system is predatory, we are trying to liberate.
I understand about licensing. v4vmusic seeks to make all parties whole through proper splits in an open architecture where anyone can see who gets what.

It is generally assumed (though not always true) that the published RSS feed has been done so by someone with the right to do so.
Torrents on the other hand are primarily released by someone without the rights to publish.
Copyrights are the devil. In my opinion v4v should not be used in this world as there be dragons that we do not have the proper tools to slay.
I only plays music from artists that want v4v

Whew! I made it through all 381 artists listed in the wavlake catalog.
I'd say a good 50-65% of the stuff is just garbage, low quality, no heart, badly recorded junk.
I found 91 artists that I didn't think were bad.
I rejected all electronic, rap, hip hop. I'm sure there are some very talented and good artists in this area but it's not my thing.
I included a lot of instrumental stuff in my count for use as background music.

After looking over PodcastMirror.com I don't think it's a good fit for the article. My target audience would be un-hosted musicians and PCM would be for already hosted musicians.
That said I'd be happy to include blubrry.com in the list of v4v hosting companies.
Does Blubrry support the medium tag?
Does Blubrry allow for Item level splits?
Can a musician have multiple RSS feeds (Albums) on one plan or would they have to pay for each Feed?

I find sad that out of the tons of feeds that are using IPFS Podcasting only 16 feeds are giving value in return.
50% are my feeds.
We need to figure out how to onboard the rest. Currently we are providing a service at a loss. (at least I am)

Here's a conundrum.
If I play a song in my show that was a cover song and I didn't recognize it before publishing. What should I do?
Edit the the show and take out the offending song?
Technically I'd be infringing on the original songwriter's copyright.
Obviously I should research each song but I'm sure eventually at least one will slip through the cracks.
