Plenty of bots and default profiles. Not rampant but the incentive to inflate numbers exists so... Engagement is high though at least on a likes basis. Would be great to know what moves were necessary to scale this far just for traffic/algo generation.

My main annoyance with a while back I checked in on it for some months and the discord felt like nothing was happening, and that it was a big tech project with no spirit. SourceCode repos were tumbleweeds. So them at some point they built out this thing which is in the marketing sense decentralized.
Meanwhile the speed and algo layer is all due to some huge hidden compute cost which is being paid by someone/VC. Feels like a trap. I'm checking it out and enjoying it but my key reservation is with hidden cost and ownership. Feels like my persona there is a product.
The nostr response that is like to see, if there is one, is for all the big relays to go paid and let us know and pay the cost of a bulletproof social network.

Why not go the nostr.wine route and require payment? You'll be helping the market with price discovery and enable your operation to scale. It's an essential step for Nostr to mature. If I were you I'd start at what seems high since there's little competition. Say 33k ($30) a month.

For trusted users, and we definitely need to filter out loosely linked accounts, it's about 7% over 30 days. This is a better time scale for something so new. The other thing is this is more an issue to solve at app level. It seems a few apps have analytics so they should look at how changes affect this.

I wouldn't get too wrapped up in moral purity. The reason is each central bank has their primary customer who will be taking out a volume of loans that we could never offset.
Went looking for a quote that addresses this line between ethics and reality and this is the best I found: "Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life so. Aim above morality. Be not simply good; be good for something." -Henry David Thoreau
What I take from that is not to deny yourself and family the advantage of assets that pretty much require loans to obtain just because you don't want to be complicit in a theft-based system. In that you really have no choice. If however you want to act and are willing to sacrifice then it should be collectively so that the effort scales to the point that central banks must respond.
I suspect this could work by forming an organization whose membership pledges not to take out any loans until inflation, real inflation not cherry picked numbers, falls below some rate.
