Doesn't make any difference. Your "empty" side is just your channel partner's "full" side. What you want to do is make sure your node is up and online, especially if your route a lot of payments.

No it doesn't. It can be installed on any machine but it has to be able to connect to the node in question in order to get the invoice. I'll put together a guide but no guarantees I won't make a mistake somewhere.

Demand that Lightning Labs add support for BOLT12 to LND.
Without that, there's not much any of those wallet devs can do. Maybe Zeus could add it to the CLN node connection but thats a big ask for a small reward from a small team.

Purpose: It's a safer way to park by making your exit from the spot not a backing up into an area that's tough to see. Also imagine a situation where a large number of people needed to leave in a hurry and everyone had to back up to get out. That would be one hell of a cluster f**k. Backing into a space is easier than backing out of a space as you've already cleared the area of travel before you start backing.

Bitcoin needs its "Ossify Now" cadre as much as it needs it "Add Bells and Whistles" cadre and all the other knuckleheads in between. The contentiousness of the relationships ensure that neither side ever gets everything and progress is slow and purposeful.
That said the folks maintaining Bitcoin Core, Knots, btcd, etc. deserve to be funded. Funding though should truly have no strings attached to it.

The node I added the channel from is LND. I had to try 3 times to add as peer and the open negotiation took an extraordinarily long time and it's a clearnet connection. But the channel is open and actuve now.

The api has definitely stood the test of time! It's really handy like you say for things like alby or btcpayserver or just a buddy you might want to let use your node.
Still, look into running your own instance of lnbits, its vastly more functional and can connect to alby the same way.

Last release for LndHub was Sept. 2021.
Definitely look into switching over to Lnbits if you want an accounting system for wallets on your node. It's free and takes minimal resources.
Also let me know if you need some inbound, I run three decent sized nodes.

It definitely adds yet another layer of complexity. It is nice for uncle jim setups but really, I'm not a big fan anyome even though I run an instance of it myself. I think for an abstraction layer, lnbits is a better choice. It's not without risks but it is actively developed where LNDHUB is kind of abandoned. There is an LNDHUB extension in lnbits that can completely replace the original.
I have yet to make any real money on routing but my nodes do route quite a bit. Just gets eaten up in fees eventually opening new channels.

When someone deposits onchain funds to an LNDHUB account/wallet it credits their account. It is on the operator of the node attached to LNDHUB to open a channel with those funds thereby increasing the nodes outbound capacity.
This is a quirky thing about LNDHUB and not really part of the Lightning Network

No, you should be able to connect to it right away. The daemon will know if the initial sync is complete or not and report that accordingly. If you connecting from a different machine you'll need to open up access so rather than 127.0.0.1 you'll need to bind to the ethernet adapter or you could use 0.0.0.0 for all

I had read an article that Phoenix was going to support Bolt 12 but that was over a year ago and it still doesn't. So far CLN supports it experimentally and as you know eclair can supposedly pay an offer and create one with a plugin. I updated to 0.10.0 and also have a CLN node with the experimental turned on. I haven't been able to successfully pay an offer yet between those two nodes.
It's still very unused and new.

You can get compiled binaries here. They have them for Linux/Mac/Windows. There's some ok explanations in the git too. You can just download the binary and then run the chantools <command> from the terminal of whatever OS you're using.

Also if you have funds missing from your onchain wallet when your force closes get confirmed the sweepremoteclosed command from chantools is something you may need to do as well. With your node being offline sometimes when the other side force closes and your node isn't alive, funds can languish in sweep addresses that your main three pubkeys won't pick up. So don't despair if that happens, that one is fairly easy to do.

Not sure the watchtower is able to access commitment transactions unless a breach is detected. I run an lnd tower and a teos tower and let me just say, it's damn near impossible to understand much of anything that's being stored and it's a MASSIVE amount of info. Very gobbledygook, if you know what I mean. Easiest just to take the seeds from each dead node and use those to sign a transaction that splits the funds between the two parties.
Basically one node creates a psbt with one signature that has the split to the two destinations. Then the psbt is sent to the other party to sign and broadcast after reviewing the proposed split.

Best to get your ducks in a row and figure things like how you want to split it, where you want the funds to go, make sure you have the seeds and passphrase, and maybe familiarize yourself with chantools. The good thing is like and address that holds funds. They ain't going anywhere until the two people with keys move them. The channels from dead nodes that recovered a month ago were from nodes that got nukes in May '23

That's correct, don't give up if there are sats to be saved. The one thing about recovery from seed is you need to be able to have a dialogue, somehow, with your channel partner and be able to agree on how to split the funds in that 2 of 2 multisig

Stuck HTLCs contribute greatly to force closes frreom these unnecessary circular routes and all your doing is balancing your channel but you knocking your peers other channels out balance and you need them for payments too so circular balancing really accomplishes nothing.
Swapping in or out using peerswap and Liquid is practically free and you don't fuck over your peers.
