@npub153s…cvd9 it's already the case that most art produced does make peanuts in "rights". average book sales is like 5 copies, lifetime. and it's the same for musicians, etc. rights pay for a latte a year to the median artist, if that.
that is, most people who make art today are already not motivated by money (from rights), so no reason they'd stop. (and it's by no means all crap, correlation between sales and quality is weak.)

@npub153s…cvd9 copyright is a relatively recent (mis)invention, art was produced before it and will be produced after it.
it may change the mix of what is made some, probably for the better.
commercialisation of art is toxic for most people who make and consume art (incentives to make bad art, flattened long tail). in any case abolishing copyright does not abolish all forms of commercial funding of art, so space will still be left for mercantilist crap lol.

@npub1l3g…vu48 @npub1zrx…eac5 sure. thing is if google tries to lock down youtube downloaders, the next step is to also detect and disable linux players, or somehow lock them down (see widevine, could get worse, like sending encrypted stuff to approved locked-down GPUs only to bypass the OS entirely).

@npub1msr…0y7u humans are no panacea, sometimes call centre drones are worse than a good app. human drivers err and kill a lot too, maybe a small city (downtown SF? ) should be dedicated to robot-driving-only as an experiment, to see if/when robots get better than humans. ツ
