The OSK panel in mobile settings is becoming more complete. After adding layout selection last cycle, selecting the default text completer is on its way now too. The data is provided by the OSK so new completers are picked up automatically.

Any hints how to get a response from #Fairphone support? It's been almost a week since I contacted them regarding a warranty case (a broken hinge on an only 3mo old Fairbuds XL 🎧) and except for the auto responder it's total radio silence. (I''m pretty dependent on the noise canceling feature).

Whenever I have to deal with #LinuxMobile on devices that formerly ran android I realize how super simple things like flashing and debugging are on the #Librem5 compared to that.
No odd partition schemes, no super sensitive boot loader that gives up on the first glitch. Just #uboot and if all else fails #jumpdrive.

Laptop died yesterday but thanks to the #Librem5, the Baseus Dock, an HDMI Screen, a USB keyboard and #Phosh's docked mode I have access to most of the things via my phone.
#nitrokey helps a lot as that means I have my ssh keys available by just plugging it in.
Took me about 15min to notice that I didn't even plug a mouse in.

While we try to find a suitable place for the clock in phosh's top bar when notches are present (since 0.29.0) we didn't take rounded corners into account as most of the time the left and right padding would be enough.
With more devices like the #fairphone5 and #xiaomi daisy showing up as being used with #phosh we need to care about that too:

While this also adds a bunch of new features like language and subtitle selection it mostly moved things closer to the designs. We have a wide mode for docked/desktop mode now and autohiding of panels, etc.

Today was cell broadcast test day in NL. @npub1l76…yuy0 and @npub1e9g…kvc5 thankfully captured Modemmanager logs. Piped that into my MM testcase and could parse it out all right:

If you're running #phoc's development branch (main, tracking #wlroots git) on a device with split display controller and gpu (like the #librem5 with #etnaviv and mxsfb / dcss) make sure to set
WLR_RENDER_DRM_DEVICE=/dev/dri/renderD128
export WLR_RENDER_DRM_DEVICE
in ~/.phoshdebug as otherwise GTK4 (and lots of other things) will fail to render anything. GTK3 and #phosh itself will work fine.
This doesn't apply when you run nested of e.g. with intel graphics.

I ever so often close the 🎵- player and when grabbing the 📱 I'd have to unlock it to just start the 🎵 player and then 🔒 the 📱 right away again (as there's #mpris controls on the 🔒-screen then anyway).
Hence I wrote a small #phosh plugin to add arbitrary "launchers" to the 🔒-screen via a desktop file.
This is very simplistic atm (as we e.g. don't track app-state) but gets the job done initially.
I only used it for that purpose but there's other potential use cases:

Had the need to charge an all electric Kia recently and guess what: both the charging stations app and the vendor's app are proprietary so how would I know when charging finished?

There is a long standing issue in #phoc (the #wayland compositor used with #phosh (but as I recently learned also other projects like #bananui) that makes windows flip their size when crossing a screen edge (as tiling is (incorrectly) kicking in). This makes dragging windows around in docked mode harder than necessary.
This is about to improve and (thanks to the ground work over the past months) we can also add some visual feedback:

Ever since doing the initial completion support in #phosh 's osk-stub I wanted to add a generic "unix pipe" like completer. phosh-osk-stub would feed the program preedit on stdin and read the completions from the program's stdout.
That is there now and with that and some more changes I can use #[0] 's #swipeGuess to do swipe like typing. To be clear: all the hard work is done by swipeGuess, phosh-osk-stub just piggy backs on it:

...for my usage pattern the fact that mpv can now successfully disable the screensaver is the most notable improvement in this release 📺 .
