It is worth noting that there is considerable inequality between people within different generational cohorts. I remember seeing something about the inequality being wider among millenials than among boomers. There is still a weird boot screen saying the phone is using a different OS.
Note that locking the boot loader will wipe your data if you already used it.

Before getting a pixel with calyxos, i used a moto g8 with lineageOS. It was pretty good but you couldn't lock the bootloader after reflashing which is a bit of a security issue. With the pixel the best part is you can relock it after flashing custom os.

Clayxos feels like a happy medium. Removes all the tracking but you can still run microG so all your apps that need google play services still work.

I went with the unbranded version of the protectli hardware from aliexpress and then flashed it with coreboot and installed pfsense. It works flawlessly but was quite a learning experience moving from a crappy standard broadband router.

Spector has to process existing blocks when you first set it up and this takes a while but once it is done it is quick. Sparrow is only faster if you also run an electrum server. The electrum server does all the processing in advance.
