New Catboat-1 milestone: first dish-soap-and-warm-water sheet wash. Was getting weird adhesion issues for a while, then I suddenly remembered PLA likes to put sugar films everywhere.

OK, replaced the thermistor in Catboat-1, _again_, and things seem to be working OK so far. Gonna try a long-ish print to make sure though.
I'm also pretty sure now that the replacement thermistor I put in was a lemon. I'm fairly sure resistance is _not_ meant to continuously rise when the temperature is stable!

So, good news bad news. Good news is that I've found (and printed!) a really good solution for storing my wire.

Wanted to share this because _holy wow_ that layer stacking is amazing. I've not seen it this good on _any_ FDM printer I've operated so far. Catboat-1 continuing to make miracles!

With the SLA-related updates in the latest PrusaSlicer, I decided now _might_ be the time to request some things that would make PrusaSlicer a bit more pleasant to use when slicing resin:

Heads-up for #3DPrinting folks who wanna get PET-CF: it seems SirayaTech make it, and sell for less than Bambu or Qidi: https://www.amazon.com/Siraya-Tech-Fibreheart-PET-CF-Filament/dp/B0CSPFL7MB/?ref_=pd_hp_d_atf_ci_mcx_mr_ca_hp_atf_d
I'd normally be a bit skeptical, but two things encourage me here:
* SirayaTech are known for quality in the resin world (though whether their markup is worth it in 2024 is a matter of debate); and
* They specify 10% _chopped_ CF, which is usually a sign that they're legit.
Have not tested, but definitely tempted.

Having gotten Catboat-1 printing, I gotta say, the XPlus-3 looks even worse by comparison than it did already. Yes I understand that Catboat-1 cost more time _and_ money, but the difference is so stark it's actually remarkable.

Today I discovered that the XPlus3's drybox has an PC4-M8 connector. Not M6 or M10 like literally everyone else, M_8_. That's an impressive amount of vendor lock-in: I thought only Prusa had the sheer unbridled villainy to do such a thing.

Catboat-1 can hit 25 VF with PETG. That's _definitely_ a personal record: the closest I've gotten was 15, and that's on the XPlus-3.

As someone who's tried to FDM print minis for a _while_ (sometimes successfully), this video summarizes a lot of my discoveries and suggestions pretty well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDxM9VsQrtM
My main criticism of this video is the use of PLA. It's a pretty bad material for minis: it's brittle, not heat resistant (enjoy small details melting in a hot car), _horrid_ to post-process, can only be superglued, and IME has _awful_ layer stacking. ABS solves all these problems.

#3DPrinting lesson du jour: don't be me, don't accidentally crush your (expensive PT1000) thermistor by overtightening the grub screw holding it into the heater block.
I got _15 hours_ of prints off this thing before it failed though. Damn TL, you do good work.
