@npub1k08…6xvn i just used a static website the other day to paste in the code and it would generate the one time codes every few seconds.
i saved the code to a local file as well.
it was an experiement to see how easy it is to build web tools for this and it is almost trivial.
what is harder to get or find any convenient guidance. i expected it to be much more involved though and am happy it is that simple, so yes.
...no reason this is so difficult. it should be trivial, because technically it is

What is "the system"?
The thought that crossed my mind today was "the system" is the sum of everything that is "low key".
People rarely think about stuff so common they take it for granted and find it boring.
It is non-trivial to gain awareness of low-key stuff. It needs training like everything else. One needs to develop a passion for searching for actively looking for low key insight and to be happy about finding one.
How to identify them?

All software has a political dimension as well, even hardware.
This includes programming language features. Often features cant be understood without understanding the context.
Programming languages encourage specific ways to think & build software. They are designed by people organized under specific rules. Conways Law already suggests this.
We dont talk about it enough and what implications it has and by being blind to it we miss a lot of opportunities for positive change.

i disagree.
mainstream people have as much rights to their words as scientists, but mainstream is in the majority and AI will also continue to be abused by marketing to make outrageous claims.
i dont think AI helps anyone and i will continue to ignore anyone talking about AI

@npub1f6a…pnql i do think AI gives way to much credibility to it. People saw and read scifi movies/books and believe chat gpt & co. despite all the confident bullshit it shares.
also, image recognition is different from a language learning model, so what are we even talking about when talking about AI?
it is way to broad to make useful statements, other than what we all saw in scifi movies at some point imho

@npub1f6a…pnql maybe, but because some science people working on it called it that doesnt mean we have to accept the word.
the more general term hides the more specific and nuanced and more informative details, also once introduced into the mainstream vocabulary it might clash with other mainstream meaning and it is easier for a small group to change their wording than for a large group.
i generally think scientists should strive to simplify their language, but some actually hide behind it.

@npub14d7…dm4s being free scientists means better science and establishing this almost is some sort of forcing function to systemically convince, first the best, later everyone, into this new way of organizing, so the old just dies out or rather cant find "fresh blood" anymore.
...it is also a way to not depend on the status quo to change, but instead to just do it and find like minded allies to do it together somehow

how does that myth work and what seems out of reach?
i know at least a few scientists who run their own operations. i guess in some environments, or even countries, it is a lot easier.
I would wish that the independent free scientists at some point become powerful enough to operate their own open education platform, to not just onboard but share knowledge and teach & connect the learners to self organised "earning opportunities", so that it becomes perceived as legit career

academics should co-own their means of productions or at least talk and work towards it.
I don't think there is any other way to take power into the hands of - in this case - academics tbh
