TBH that entire proposition today reminds me of @npub14sz…ur2r point on "launch and leave" development culture. It's all focusing on building something new, not maintaining established things.
I mean, it's great if getting started in a language is easier. But you still need to deeply understand a code base to maintain it.
Being "good" in a language to me also seems to imply a deep understanding of common and uncommon build patterns, why certain choices are made.

Apple seems to be chasing some bad permission request anti-patterns. I dislike the growing feeling this is leading up to a rug-pull on user control.

Personally, going into digital notes with hyperlinks was the best thing that ever happened for me.
But ultimately, whatever you use has to work for you. Assuming some software *has* to work flips the wagon before the horses. Possibly using a rocket engine.

@npub1hr7…jxyc the terrifying realization that you want to do something cool and useful with a piece of software, but that the dependencies you‘d need to do it mean it‘ll inevitably rot out from under your hands, unless you invest a lot of time and effort (which seems to push the payoff into the negative, though it would be a great learning experience…) how does one deal with that?

TBH the more I see the derision of people's positions as being "emotional" the more it makes me classify the person who uses the term as an imediate overprivileged and under-empathic asshat. It's a borderline absurd appeal to authority and a ritual of "okay but how much are you not actually affected by this problem we are harming you with" and I can't stand that.
Especially cause the same dudes get outright angry if you infringe on what they see as their domains.

Apparently VS Code is now getting APIs for having third-party plugins provide data to language model sessions. On the other hand, Parallels merrily advertises a Chatbot integration to Parallel‘s Desktop with function-calling capabilities.
Looking forward to the prompt injection supply chain attack that‘ll inevitably insure.
