Just re-watched 'DRAG ME TO HELL' with my teenage daughter and she called it (*gasp) 'corny.' 😕
I called her 'uncultured swine' it was a whole thing. She said it was 'entertaining, but stupid.' I'm like, 'But it WAS entertaining, so who cares if it's stupid?' She was like, 'Nah, fam stupid is just stupid.' I'm like, 'Yeah but-' but she wasn't havin' it.
Oh well. I still enjoyed it. It's not one of Sam Raimi's best, but it's still FUN, and for me... that's all that matters. 😎

Finally got to watch 'READY OR NOT' from beginning to end and it was a lot of fun! I think the ending might be a little divisive, but this is the kind of mix of horror and comedy that really hits the spot this season. These directors who call themselves 'Radio Silence' are quickly becoming favorites of the Horror genre directors. I have yet to see a bad film they made. They recently made 'ABIGAIL,' which was really fun.

So, my daughter told me that a picture was shared with her at school of an IG post of an AR-15 and the threat of a school shooting at her school this week.
The person who shared it with her, immediately took it to the office and they told her they had seen it several times that day and the police were already aware of it.
Apparently, this was a hoax and the same picture was shared with different school names all over the Midwest. It all originated from one poster and his sick joke has sent a ton of schools into damage control-mode.
This is the state of the country now. The threat of violence at our schools is so real it disrupts the whole system. 🇺🇸

I just watched 'HAPPY DEATH DAY' and 'HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U' back to back on #peacock. It ran like one long 3 1/2 hour long film and it just worked so well. The quality of the second film is just as good as the first and the story just picks right up where the last movie leaves off. Overall, just a REALLY fun set of films. If you haven't seen them, I'm sure you probably still know the premise ('Groundhog Day' but horror). It just works. It's funny. it's scary and the science fiction side in the second film is really good. No spoilers here, but I highly recommend this double-feature. 👍

This is Mike Flanagan talking to THR about how he went from being scared of 'scary movies' to making them.
"When 'IT' came out on ABC, all my friends had a slumber party to watch it — My God, I was traumatized. But I found that if I could will myself to make it through a scary scene without covering my eyes, I was getting braver in controlled increments. That exercise afforded me something I could carry into my life — when I was scared of public speaking or talking to a girl. By college, I’d become difficult to scare. And by the time I wanted to make horror movies, it all started to look like the ones and zeros in The Matrix. I’m so ensconced in the mechanics of the genre, it is very rare that a movie affects me."
I think this is really interesting because as I get older, I'm seeing 'scary movies' the same way. Where someone sees a head explode and goes, 'EWWW' I go, 'WOW! Great effect.' 😅

It was budgeted at around $5 million, the estimated marketing costs were only $10 million and it grossed over $102 million.
If the net there is about $51 million (minus venue revenue), they made about $36 million in profit for the studio. 💰
