Mum had many tales of visiting Beechworth to see Dr Skinner. One: Mum and siblings standing on running boards of his car, while he was working in the hospital. Kids let the brake off the car; it started rolling towards the gorge. Dr Skinner heard the kids’s screaming, ran out and stopped the car just in time.

Fascinating. Used to visit Beechworth frequently when younger. It has a family connection, Mum’s (great?) grandfather, Dr Skinner. We’d go to Beechworth for a picnic, a day out. Buy treats at the bakery. Would love to go back, some time.

O frabjous day! Re my search for a missing insurance policy. Received a call this morning; it’s been located. The other, relevant, company couldn’t find it because there’s no dedicated team for that particular policy. I can rest easy.

Rang office of the financial advisor who initially suggested the funeral bond. Have emailed original funeral bond company (who no longer exist). If no response, I can contact APRA, financial services regulator. Sounds like a plan.

Been given runaround with companies holding parts of my funeral bond policy. This is not what I expected to be doing today. Grr. Should be time for a walk soon, but not my errands. The upside, I have no need of the funeral policy right now :)

Went to the NGA, saw the fascinating quilts. Did the now-obligatory visit to Vincent Namatjira’s painting which includes Gina Rinehart. The attendant says it’s wonderful how many extra visitors have come to the museum; said it’s the most people since Blue Poles!
