Something that confuses me about LLMs: the hidden prompts. And in general, prompts that take the form "you are ___." Outside of cheesy hypnotism scenes, how often in the training data does A tell B who they are, and B proceed to act accordingly? Why does this work as well as it does?

Well, I finally bought one and now they aren't answering their phone, and the next place I called said they won't install parts the customer brought in. Also it's outside the return window for the compressor.

Late last year I got my car AC checked out. They said it was the compressor and cited a really high price because apparently a 2015 Honda Fit was too new to have aftermarket compressors. I found that this wasn't true, and they said they'd install something I bought.

When it comes to left of center politicians, activists, and orgs still on X, there seems to be a ton of self congratulatory denial, a sense that Musk is a slow giant oaf everyone left of center can just effortlessly dart around.
I am less interested in criticizing that denial than making it harder to maintain. There should be a concerted effort to document harms that have already happened because of Musk’s interventions.
