I proposed we finally update #setuptools in #Fedora 42. It breaks a lot of #Python packages :(
150+ packages use the now-removed `setup.py test` command, which was deprecated for 5 years.
I am looking forward to when `setup.py build` and `setup.py install` will be removed as well, that will certainly be fun. Perhaps we should deprecate the old Python RPM macros more loudly (with sleeps, ASCII art Jolly Rogers, and beeps).

If everything goes well, #Fedora Linux 41 will never use a i686 builder to build a noarch package. https://pagure.io/koji/issue/3809
This has huge implications for the ability to drop i686 support in some Python packages with extension modules, such as pandas or scipy, in Fedora (following upstream).

When writing command line tools in Python, always assume people will need to use them from their own Python scripts. Don't force them call subprocess or use complex APIs. Please, provide a high-level CLI-like Python function and create the CLI by wrapping that in argparse/click/etc.
I wish I could just call fedpkg.build(), spectool.get("foo.spec"), or dnf.repoquery(whatrequires="bar", repo="rawhide") instead of copy-pasting boring wrappers from script to stript.

I've spent 3 days volunteering at the 🇨🇿 Czech :python: #Python community conference, #PyConCZ. I am exhausted, overwhelmed with emotions and I feel like it was a week. After 4 years of no Czech PyCon, this was the biggest one ever and I am not getting any younger. Doing this and meeting all the folks was very emotional and intense for me. The amount of praise we received in person from visiters is extraordinery. I'm still shiverring.
