Barring any absolutely catastrophic bug showing up in the new few days, this will be the final release candidate and we'll start 13.4-RELEASE builds on Friday October 13th.

The "code slush" for FreeBSD 13.4 has started. It was scheduled to start yesterday but I was busy at the global #AWSHero summit.
For the next two weeks developers are encouraged to focus on fixing bugs rather than adding new features. 13.4-BETA1 builds start on August 2.

FreeBSD 14.1-RC1 builds will be starting soon, I hope. We're just waiting for packages to rsync out to mirrors so that they can be downloaded by the release build process to include in the DVD images.

If there's one lesson companies should take from the xz fiasco, it's "take care of the maintainers you rely on". If someone feels overworked and decides to hand off maintenance to someone new, you might end up depending on the work of someone who doesn't do nearly as good a job.

If you use iwlwifi on FreeBSD 13, please plan on testing 13.3-RC1 next week. A bunch of stability patches just landed but it would be good to confirm that no new problems were introduced before we roll the release.
