When I got Conroy deep in COVID times I was prepared to adore absolutely any cat I could get my hands on, but I was hoping for a lap cat after 20+ years of very loving gaze-at-you-from-across-the-room cats.
I still feel honored each of the dozen times a day he jumps up for snuggles.
I do wish he'd stop using my boobs as a launchpad at 4AM, though.

#WritersCoffeeClub 20: When did you first know you wanted to be a writer?
I'm still not sure I do.
I want people to find and enjoy my writing.
But being "a writer" comes with so many demands and so much baggage.
I feel like I have a voice, or many voices, suited to fiction. I just let them out. That's it.

I stand to come into a very modest amount of money in the near future and plan to let most of it sit in savings for house expenses
but I'm also considering putting a small portion into professional editors and cover artists and seeing what happens.
Writing community, how many zeroes am I looking at? There are 7 books at the moment, 5 with rough covers, could be up to 8 and about a million words by the time this happens.
And advice on vetting people for this?

@npub1gmx…atcq oh this was years ago and I did eventually get my meds once I underatokd the problem and gave them the other address
but it contributed to the perpetual humiliation that ended with me deciding to just go unmedicated instead.

Patience.
At one point HQ thinks he's slow-walking a mission when slowly is the only way to get it done. Phon does not respond positively to pressure.
Brand has to be a comforting, undemanding presence until Phon gets around to blurting out what HQ wanted to hear from the start.
Especially since Phon is pretty much ace, being a stable, reliable presence is the only way to earn his trust.
