Ok, so thanks to your post, I put 100 swings into my workout. It was otherwise focused on upper body (pushups, tricep thingies with the kettlebell, windmill with kb, some ab work, etc). I don't know how you managed 100 swings in a row 😬. I did 40, 30, 30.
But you've inspired me: I'll add 100 swings to all of my workouts for the rest of #31days and I'll work up to 2 sets of 50.

I love sharing! I just don't like being forced to do it in accordance with the choices of a few well-armed people.
One of the things that we tend to miss in these conversations is scale: in a tribe of people, you have enough close relationships - and enough accountability of the leaders - that taxation as sharing for the public good makes a lot of sense.
In a system with millions of people and no accountability for those forcing the "sharing," it's theft. To make it worse, those same thieves can also print the money that you're forced (again, under threat of violence) to use, and your assets go up in price because they're debasing the money.
We can discuss all those things you mentioned, and do that within a small enough community that we actually have a say in how the money is being spent and what taxation should look like.

I have 10,15, 20 and 35 lb bells and a belt that makes it easy to do hip thrusts with them. I need to get a 50lb - hopefully soon.

Compost project! My husband and I took a class on it this week (Billy Bond 🤩) and put together a 30-bucket pile in a wire ring yesterday afternoon and the center is already at 138 degrees. Our soil ("soil" might not be the right word) needs lots of work, and we're planning to make extract and spray it everywhere that we can.

Yeah, but those convos don't always go very well (ask me how I know...).
Also I think that's almost always true - certainly for the kinds of cancers that would show up on a PET scan - but that some cancers apparently use diff substrates for growth. (? I went deep into this ages ago, and don't remember the details so I could be/would love to be wrong about that.)
In any case everything improves when you improve your metabolic health!

One easy way into the conversation if the family member is more conventional: being in ketosis usually improves the efficacy of standard treatments. For someone who is willing to go down a rabbit hole, I've seen lots of positive references to Paleomedina. I don't think they list cancer on their website but I've heard several folks mention that the main dr in that practice has had success with remission for patients who are willing to go all-in with her dietary suggestions.

Dairy products seem to interfere with fat loss for most folks. They are sometimes recommended when someone wants to do carnivore but wants to gain weight. However, Ken Berry has some pretty harsh things to say about the inflammatory effects of dairy.
Personally I do well with kefir (that we make with raw local milk) and some cheese on my burgers, but I haven't tried just ruminant meat and salt. It's possible that I would feel even better without dairy.

Thank you for such a thoughtful response! I found the covid handling so appalling that I left a good life to start from scratch on raw land. Much of what my husband I do here - permaculture, community, work choices - is geared toward making this world, or at least our corner of the world, better for future generations. So I'm with you fully on that. I've also come to believe that there are areas in which we do have power to reverse the current extreme governmental overreach: in the communities we build, the systems we support, the money we use.
What I'm not sure of is whether voting is one of those.
If I had to choose it would be RFK, probably mostly because of his intelligence and personal integrity. This is how I see it: DNC choice will happily sell us out to the highest bidder, Trump can be manipulated into doing so, and RFK might actually put up a fight before conceding. I do wonder if his stance on Israel is an example of him conceding.
In 2020 I held my nose and voted for Biden, thinking him the lesser of two evils (ha!) and also betting that once Dems were in charge maybe they would calm down about covid (haha!!!). I was so wrong, and I regret my vote. I don't think it would have been much better to vote for Trump, so I am inclined to think that it would have been better to just not participate.
In any case, I appreciate your note and may re-read it before November.

Hello, Nostr friends!
We just put down a deposit on a half cow with a local, family-owned regenerative farm. I think they're still at the early stages of some good stuff that we're learning about here on the homestead (silvopasture, tree hay, soil biology, etc), but they're on the right track and it feels great to support them.
Between their beef (this is our second order), pork from a friend's farm, raw milk from a local dairy, and our own eggs, ducks and rabbits, we probably get at least 80% of our calories from within a very small radius and from folks who are literally regenerating the land in the way that they raise their livestock.
So far only the pork is paid for with bitcoin, but we'll work on that!

oh, so as a colony? (Have you been listening to TSP 😂)
I really wanted to do colony raising but decided against it for a few reasons.
Here's what we have working nicely right now:
cages hang in the chicken run inside the overhang of the coop (so they're all in shade). The droppings fall to the ground and I add wood shavings regularly (plan to replace that with charcoal soon). The chickens dig around in it and every week or so I half-fill a five gallon bucket of the mix to put around a tree or in a new planting.
We have two large containers of duckweed - for the chickens and for the BSF - that we've placed so they get just a bit of the manure for fertility. Also we sometimes add some of the rabbit droppings to the BSF bin and to our red wiggler bin (both also under the overhang of the chicken coop).
I'm planting a ton of rabbit fodder and chicken food inside the run so that we can feed them as much as possible from the immediate area. May also add fish soon, though I'm not yet sure how.
If you're planning on a colony set up I don't know if any of that is of interest! You're probably well aware but you'll have to protect fodder trees from free-ranging rabbits. One of our tractor rabbits escaped and neatly de-barked one of our new fodder willows.

I know that there are serious questions about childhood vaccines, but my guess is that we're not looking at one specific cause. For #permie and #homestead folks who don't know him: Takota Coen is an excellent resource. He's got some beautiful systems going on his farm in Canada (like growing duckweed on his pond, which he soaks in milk/whey from his cow along with grains that he grows, all of which he feeds to his pigs before he sends them out to forage cattails in the wetlands that he's rehabilitating. It's quite something. That particular YT video linked below, and he's got plenty more).
And his latest podcast is interviewing Ben Perrin 🤩 I'm partway through, and Ben is doing a great job of introducing bitcoin to Takota's audience (mostly not bitcoiners, would be my guess, and it's a group that will probably be pretty receptive).

I don't remember the timing, but my really bad case seemed to take ages to clear up. 10 days total? Two weeks? Soon after that I had another exposure, and that time I used the Zanfel early on and I think it resolved quickly (2 days?).
It's probably very individual. Someone in my family doesn't react at all to it, so my guess is that even among those of us who are affected there's probably a range of reactions and timelines.

FWIW - Zanfel worked for me when I used it within the first few days.
I had brutal poison ivy on both forearms last summer - skin got leathery and I thought it was going to leave scars. I tried Zanfel and I think it helped some, but I was already at least a week into the rash by the time I used it.
In any case, it definitely helped the next time I started developing a reaction. I think it kept the rash to a minimum and it cleared up quickly.

Actually, I agree; it's not that something is automatically good because our ancestors did it; it's that our bodies are tuned to the biological expectations of our species. I have no doubt that there are changes we can make that will extend our health and lifespan. And I also agree that we shouldn't necessarily their lifestyle (or whatever we assume their lifestyle was). I would just argue that a good starting point is the environment that our physiology expects. We can then build (or take away) from there, but we should do so cautiously, and modern science has a nasty habit of reducing an entire spectrum of the environment (i.e. sunlight) to one or two measurable factors (vitamin D, for instance) and coming to ridiculous conclusions.
In any case - are we doing better now? our brains have shrunk over the last few thousand years, and I'm not so sure about lifespan. Early agriculturalists seemed to have lived relatively short (and diseased) lives, but the hunter gatherers before them may have lived quite a lot longer, especially if you factor out the early vulnerable years (i.e. taking the average of lifespan from adolescence or adulthood rather than from infancy) and the dangers of their environment. I suspect that if we took our current humans - with our 80yo-ish life span - and put them in the wild, we would go extinct.

If our ancestors spent hours in the sun, that means - by definition - that sunlight is basic to our physiology. We're descended from the folks who thrived outside. The ones who didn't thrive outside are not our ancestors.
That we don't understand all the ways in which sunlight is basic to our physiology is a separate issue, but our current limited understanding certainly doesn't mean that our ancestral exposure to the sun is toxic ,and recent history is littered with examples of how "science has now concluded" is an early stage of what turns out to be terrible medical advice (DDT, smoking, lobotomies, innumerable pharma products, saturated fats... it's a long list).
Obv you get to decide what healthy skin means for you, and how much sunlight you think you need. Go for it 😉
I'm not trying to convince you about what to do; just pushing back on your general statements on what's healthy.

I think that's probably about what is happening right now in the fiat world. All the corruption that goes along with unfettered ability to print currency is accelerating and the resulting craziness is creating a lot of interest in freedom tech, in alternate systems of health care, education, etc.

We got a heifer last year, and the dairy that sold her to us (our raw milk dairy) lent us a young bull. The agreement was that we would raise him until he was old enough to get her pregnant. He's just finally figuring out what to do when she's in heat! For a while he bolted right out of the paddock every month 😂
