First of all, fucking hell. I'm very glad your daughter is okay - none of that is okay and must've been terrifying.
Second of all, yes - impulse control. People get funny behind the wheel of vehicles, kinda like how some people get behind a screen. I've wondered before if there should be an impulse control element to the drivers' exam - some drivers get something reckless when they're emotionally aroused and those ones ought never earn a license.

What vexes me is that somehow she got enough votes to get a position of power when, as you say, she was gifted this position to maintain O&G scions. She's willing through all under the bus for it and it's repugnant. Why the public isn't outraged enough to gather in the masses and take to the streets about it is beyond me.

Alberta's clinging irrationally to O&G, stalling renewables, all while China is lunging ahead, embracing renewable energy.

I didn't realize just how vast the forest fire emissions are. Brace yourself for some bitter truth:
In the 2010s: forest carbon losses were "more than most nations emit"
To offset that we would have to
A. eliminate all fossil-fuelled road vehicles:
- cars
- heavy-duty freight trucks
B. stop burning natural gas, across the nation

I've discovered a life hack!
When I cycle my errands, I get so much more than if I were to drive them:
- a chance to connect with people on my way 👥
- I've gotten fitter 💪
- time efficient (errands plus fitness in one!) 🙌
- I feel (potentially) less harried by stupid drivers 🚘
- I feel really positive about how my values align with behaviour 🚲💚
- I value my groceries, etc much more 🛒

How about a 'carbon credits scheme' where we don't get to burn the carbon and appease our guilt but get things like Green Bonds from the government or shares in corporations that are researching climate mitigation technologies for choosing NOT to burn that carbon?

Is fair-trade a meaningless "social washing" (think green washing but the social and worker justice version of it) label?
Anyone know anything about the legitimacy of fair-trade?
I consistently buy my coffee and chocolate with fair trade labels but would like to know if I've been tricked.
Please boost. Would like to hear from someone who is knowledgeable in this.

@npub1zxp…sl5g Yes! I used to work at a care home and nothing made the folks in the dementia ward more delighted than if I would haul my keyboard in and play the tunes from their youth. <3
I'm not muuuch of a gamer but like a few vidyas sometimes and the Age of Empires soundtrack evokes anticipation but also dread. Brings me back to pre-Steam days, when I'd spend more time wrestling with my computer, trying to connect with my friend's, than playing the game. Haha!
