Since about a year ago I've been installing Ruby 3.2 with optional Rust-based JIT on many VPSes, testing how my app runs on them, with JIT enabled (via an ENV flag, it makes it ~15% faster) and without it.

Ok, so I think this I/O benchmark in Yabs is overestimating the SSD speed on the old one (the 2 GB/s results only show up in the "512k" and "1m" block size test), because in every more practical test I did (copying a large file, SQLite processing) it comes out as noticeably slower than the new VPS 🤨

I haven't watched it all yet, but looks good at first glance - looks like it mixes some things from Civ 5 and 6? I played several games of Civ 5 in 2020 and I loved it, but I didn't like the more cartoonish graphics of 6 (esp. the leaders), looks like they've changed that back.

Ookayy… so I've run some tests rescanning a bunch of feeds on some millions of posts, so it takes on the order of 10-30 minutes. The new VPS does it in ~30-40% less time than the old one 😳 (8m, 29m vs. 12m, 46m)

I was thinking about something like that - like, keep a hardcoded list of "legit" gov domains like [senate.gov](https://senate.gov ), [parliament.uk](https://parliament.uk ), [gov.pl](https://gov.pl ) etc., wouldn't be *that* many of those, and then any subdomain of those to any depth level gets some kind of UI indication than a [parilament.uk](https://parilament.uk ) subdomain wouldn't get?

Ok this is crazy: I counted now how many unique users have been posting in Spanish in the last week and 3 weeks ago: 4986 users now vs. 4132 then (+20%). @npub18ak…zcw9 says he might have brought a couple hundred new users. So for languages outside top 3, one person can make a huge difference!

As I expected, since the new signups were mostly from UK 🇬🇧, it meant that English use grew in % and other languages have slightly fallen. Other than that, Spanish has managed to just barely push ahead before French on the 5th place 😄
